UK spider season (no pictures)

I know the thread says "no pictures" in the title. That said I'm a fellow spider hater who's fecked off at people saying they saw one the size of either their head or their hand and when I demand photographic evidence of this monstrous creature from the depths of the earth, it is actually the size of the smallest coin of the realm....
 
I shook some clean clothes on Friday night and another Aragog came running up the trouser leg. I fired it into the kitchen table and he ran under the table so I waited with the meal prep king book until it ran out and I squashed it. Vile. I’m sorry but I cannot try to save them I am absolutely terrified of them.. it’s the speed 🤢
 
My Cellar Spiders have all disappeared, my OH evicted them last weekend. This week I have evicted 2 duck off big House Spiders that should have been paying rent and another didn’t make it, what I thought was a leaf was a dead one. I’m blaming the OH for the invasion of randy, sex starved House Spiders (and the weather, but many him)
 
I don't mind spiders, I just don't like being surprised by them! I also prefer house spiders to "outside" spiders with the markings and bulbous bodies. I always think their legs look like needles that would dig into your skin if they walked on you.

I've booted out about 3 of the big house ones this week, I only get rid if I see them running around, which is generally at night. However, one escaped into the plug holes of an extension lead 😳 And I couldn't get it out.

I put them out the bathroom window at the rear of the house and I'm sure they just walk back around to the front and in the front windows!

They also seem to like my dirty washing basket so that's fun when I'm emptying it...

My worst experience with a spider so far has been when I couldn't sleep one night so was on my iPad in the dark and suddenly the silhouette of a massive big hairy spider appeared on the screen!!! 😭

I also check grapes and bananas thoroughly both in the shop when selecting them and before I put them away. A woman who uses the same supermarket as me once found a horrible spider in her grapes. Nope!!
 
Was sitting on the living room floor last Friday morning, getting my daughter dressed for the childminder. A huge house spider just ran straight at me from somewhere under the mountain of toys that live in our front room. I knew I had to be brave for my daughter so I killed it with my flip flop. Swear it zoned in on me when I screamed.
Left it under a pint glass all day while I worked from home in case it somehow resurrected. Made my partner get rid when he got home :LOL:

This happened to me but with my laptop, I was extremely shaken. I hadn't realised how many spiders actually came out until I had my youngest, her crib was in my room so I had a night light on, omg that winter there were 14 in my room, 14! 1 massive one crawling around with her in her crib! 7 on my bed - different days but equally as massive as eachother, seemed to be everywhere but I have to add we were having our loft converted at that time. Hasn't ever been that bad since, I've had 1 so far in my room and one each in the kids rooms, so 4 in total this year so far.
 
Finished work, come downstairs to put my fresh flowers in a vase and empty the bin. Something had leaked in the bin so I empty it and go to give it a shower 👀 turn around and 🛑 🛑 🛑 a bloody massive one on the runner.

I’m hoping it had just ran in whilst I was putting the bag out, but now I’m thinking was it on me 😭 I’m going to have to very carefully tread this thread and look for ideas.

I wanted to cook a nice black bean curry tonight but don’t want to go back in the kitchen 😢 I’ve tried filling some holes over summer but think this weekend will be polyfilla central.
 
I’m being invaded by flies! Is anyone else having this problem? Nothing rotting or similarly attractive in house or nearby (we clean up dog poo after every deposit)
 
How often does a spider/nest of spiders get found on fruit? I get really paranoid. Never found a spider but before when I got grapes there was loads of white thick tent looking webbing on the grapes and I got so freaked out I binned them. Maybe someone here works at a supermarket or knows someone who does and how common it is 😬

Yep! I live out in the countryside so put it down to that but the last couple of years there’s been a stupid amount they aredriving me insane
 
Omg what’s going on 😭 had my fourth one before in a month, that’s more than I’ve had in years altogether 😖
