UK spider season (no pictures)

I'm not that bothered by them, but does freak me out when I can't sleep so I'm in the lounge at 2-5am and see them scuttle around. They must do that every night while I'm in bed. One even crawed up the sofa blanket on to me 😱

I read this before bed last night, so spent the night thinking about how they’re all probably partying throughout the house while I’m in bed….

I actually don’t mind if they’re there as long as I NEVER see them. I’ve been keeping the cellar ones since reading on here they supposedly keep the big ones away. I’ve had one house spider so far this year (two weeks ago today) and I moved earlier this year so I don’t know how spidery it’s going to be. I suspect very.

Sending strength to us all through this hideous time!

I’ve had a gap in my bedroom window that I only discovered whilst painting. It’s thick with cobwebs/dust and goes right along the blind slat (old house, awful finish everywhere). I just decided to vacuum and fill it before with polyfilla and fell off the chair into the rattan basket 😭 got a massive bump forming on my shin, it best be worth it 🕸 🚫 Gives me the heebie jeebies. I try to feel sorry for them being pretty much blind but the lanky or fat ones… I can’t deal with them.

I also can't stand spiders, I'm barely able to type the word! 😱 well this morning while on my hands and knees cleaning the kickboards in the kitchen a massive cellar one fell on to my arm!! I thought it was going to crawl up into my marigolds I was screaming so much I was expecting the neighbours to knock to see if I was OK!! 😨

Also wanted to say my daughter in the police force also hates them, she is so brave catching criminals but actually cries if she sees one, she can't even use the spider catcher her partner has to get them. Once she came in from night work and there was one by the bedroom door so she slept in the spare room with the door closed.

I don't want to jinx it but we seem to be having a good year here so far, not seen any for ages now. The cellar spiders don't set off my phobia, I don't mind them at all so do let them be, I wonder if that's helped deter the horrid ones? 🤔

That seems to be the case in my house. Not seen a big bastard for 2 years now. Who know keeping spiders is the best way to keep them out 😂

I haven’t been able to put my bins out today because there is a large garden monster on a web in the middle of the path I need to take the bin down. Luckily it’s recycling week rather than smelly bins week!

Back to school and had 2 HIDEOUS ones yesterday, one in the kids water tray which my TA removed and was so big it barely fit in the cup, even she was a bit freaked by it. The other I spotted mid wee in the staff toilet and have never finished a wee so fast. Colleague came to remove for me WITH HER BARE HANDS!! 😰 Our school is awful for them, I dread this time of year…have actually sworn in class before when I pooped a weighted blankets over a child’s shoulders and there was a whopper on there…urgh.

There’s been some bigguns in my kitchen & garden last few days! If my boyfriend is in I just squeal and get him to do it but if he’s not I have to be the mature one for me and the baby 😅 last couple of days there’s been massive ones on my washing line putting the washing out 😅

The washing line thing is terrifying.

I’ve only seen 1 so far this year but I have been spraying my bedroom with peppermint spray every single night for about a month 🤣

everytime I read this thread I find myself checking my surroundings every few seconds through the corner of my eye just in case 🤣🤣
I haven't made my spray up yet, must get on the case with that 😬. Going for peppermint, lemon and maybe some grapefruit oil for good measure!

I generally don't mind spiders - if I see one I get a box from the paper bin and catch it and take it outside. I still jump when the big meaty ones appear though.

But I used to struggle to sleep because of the number of times I've woken up to find those filmy little daddy long leg fuckers dangling from their webs above my head or crawling on the wall at the head of my bed (they tend to go on a walkabout at dawn). One time a meaty one climbed onto my pillow and I got up in time because I heard the stiff cotton pillowcase crunching under its steps as it was coming for my face. A couple months ago I put a mosquito net w/ velcro over my window because of flies and since then I've also never seen a spider in my room.
