Two doors down

I’ve watched the first four episodes and it’s brilliant. Such an improvement over the last series. I feel the break Cathy had has made the character all the better and refreshing. She was hilarious in the first episode back. I cackled when she got Anne-Marie’s birthday cake and started singing “welcome home to me” and when she starting asking Colin about all the sexual encounters he’s had with other women whilst she’s been gone 😭. Christine has had some absolute clangers so far. She’s at her best in episode 4.

Only criticism of the series so far is that I feel Anne-Marie should’ve at least been included in the first episode back. It would’ve been great to see scenes between her and Cathy especially since Cathy is so terrifying and Ann-Marie is a nervous wreck 😭

Im going to savour this series as I fear it may be the last one with the writer dying earlier this year.

I don’t miss Anne Marie. I’m just shocked she didn’t feature once. Cathy is a witch but it does feel more like TDD with her back. Overall I liked the series. I thought episode 5 was the weakest. I kinda felt like Cathy reacted in that episode.

On imdb there is an 'unknown' section after series 7, and in it it lists an episode airing on 23rd Dec.

This is separate to the 6 episodes of series 7 so there may be an xmas special after all

I think the problem is that none of the characters have really changed or grew much. It’s kind of in a rut in some senses. Most scenes take place in Beth and Eric’s living room, occasionally moving to Colin’s or a restaurant. That’s limiting in itself. But we don’t see the characters evolving much. Ian and Gordon still aren’t married, some times I swear they forget they are engaged. I think we get one mention of their engagement a series now.

I agree. I'd love to see them out and about a bit more.
