TTC #11 The Long & Winding Road

1
Hi folks, setting up a new thread. This was the only suggestion when I asked for thread titles before.

Previous thread here: https://tattle.life/threads/ttc-10-1dpo-pregnancy-symptoms.44265/

Positive thoughts to you all through this thread!

Thanks for setting this up @ThisIsMyDragName

Finally a little bit of positive news on my TTC journey. Went for my review/check up at the assisted fertility clinic, first and foremost, I was treated very kindly by everyone there, no rudeness about my weight this time. Scans came back clear for me too. Still awaiting HSG test on my fallopian tubes, hopefully will get this at beginning of next cycle. I’ve managed to get my BMI down from 36.1 to 30.6 since June so I’m actually a lot closer to NHS funding guidelines than I thought. I wasn’t actively weighing myself at home because it was just a bit much.

Really hoping if I can get this HSG done and shift my last 8lbs, we are on track to begin IVF for our first in the NY.

Thankyou - i hope so. I’m under no illusion that this next stage in the journey will be easy, but Im
working hard to just try and remind myself that we can do hard things! Not one single thing in my life has ever been straightforward but at this point, I’ve done what’s within my control and the rest…lap of the gods I guess.

Thanks for setting up this thread. I hope everyone is ok today 💓

I’ve had two consecutive miscarriages with the second one having complications.
I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage unit (surprised I was referred). Initially I wanted nothing to do with it (I was asked if I’d like to be referred when I was having my second MC).

a few months later I felt mentally strong enough so got all my bloods taken.
They found I have a rare autoimmune disorder which explains why I miscarried perfectly measuring babies at 8 weeks.

I was lucky enough to see the top consultant at the unit (totally pot luck) and he was great.
I am very high risk because of the diagnosis which means if I do get pregnant I will be under the care of a team which is doctor led with weekly appointments and far more tests and scans. Weirdly this has been a comfort to me and my husband.

I will need to inject myself daily with meds the moment I find out I’m pregnant.

my last mc was in April this year and I’m only now deciding I’m ready to try.

we ttc last month but obviously nothing happened and we’re trying again this month but I have a feeling it’s going to take a while to conceive x

Wishing you well with all of this. What a huge amount to have gone through. How lucky you saw the top doc though! As much as none of us wish we were here on this thread (or at least, we wish we were just here for a cycle or two and no more!) you’re very welcome ❤️

Im 41 with stage 4 endometriosis so after my second mc I just assumed I’d be told there’s nothing that can be done. I was so surprised they gave me a referral without me having to ask.
I absolutely hate the narrative that mc just happen and also after the age of 30 you’re basically on the fertility scrap heap 🙄
It’s just not true.

I’m glad you didn’t have to fight for what you should be referred for anyway!

I’m so so glad that they referred you. I’m 40 and trying to conceive a second - I took a break for two months but started trying last nov. Period is like clockwork. I’m due in 7 days so fingers crossed but I’m not overly hopeful. Turning 40 has really done a number on my psyche this year!

I’m on my way to 40 and it feels like some kind of ticking time bomb, even though it shouldn’t be! I’m 3 DPO and once again we made monumental efforts this cycle (why yes, I think we would both like medals 🤣) but also whilst trying to be chill and have fun, which I also think we managed. And I’m trying to just be positive and calm and send good vibes into my body. I had to look up on my app how many DPO I am which I feel is a positive start 🤣. Equally I kind of already know it will all end in snotty tears when my sodding period turns up again in 11 days, or whatever my apps are predicting.

I really really hate that as women in our 30s and 40s we are told and made to feel like we’re on the scrap heap.
we’re not.
a lot of the ‘research’ and data is based off French data from 300 years ago when women were done having their babies by 25 and very few women had kids in their 40s as they’d already got their family.
And they weren’t as healthy either.
My midwife friend says it’s perfectly normal for her to see mums 40+ even 45 is not a massive shock any more.

I’m not naive in thinking it’s going to be as easy for my to conceive and carry full term than a 16 year old. But as women we cannot win. Have babies at your most fertile when it’s the easiest for your body and you’ll be condemned as a teenage mum…ttc after 35 and you have the mortgage and the stable partner but you’re selfish for even trying.

We had sex every day last month for 8 days solid over my fertile window and nothing. I got so bored of it in the end 😂 yet the first time I got pregnant (sadly ended in mc) it was a total shock as I’d just come off the pill, had no idea about my fertile window, I was 41 and literally had sex once.
it makes no sense!

I think we all need ice packs for our vaginas 😂😂😂 we really tried to dtd every second day but it’s pretty hard when you’re woken up at 5:30/6am and then after a long day trying to get into the mood when you’ve had an hour to relax after bedtime 🙃

sending everyone a very big (non vagina touching ha ha ha!) hug. We can all send eachother positive vibes ❤️

Glad you’ve mentioned about it being hard to get in the mood 😂I thought I was being weird. During my fertile window I make an effort to dress up a bit, tighter clothes etc but I do find myself struggling to feel ‘sexy’. I made a point during my last cycle after my fertile window of carrying it on so my boyfriend didn’t just feel I was only interested in him for a week 😂I basically just feel like shutting up shop once my LH starts going back down.

We’ve been trying to have sex every other day from my period ending to my period starting again, and tend to try and up it to every day in the fertile window, likewise so my husband doesn’t feel used and abused 🤣The positive side effects of the tonne of PCOS supplements have been that I cannot have enough sex. I’ve looked back on old posts in this thread where I said I couldn’t contemplate having that much sex and I meant it, so I can only assume it’s the supplements that have changed me as I’m about three months into taking them 🤣. Am fully aware that a lot of people have had success when only managing to have sex once in the fertile window, and maybe when MrDragName and I are sick of each other we’ll try that as our next tactic!

Can you post me some of your meds? 😂😉

Girls sorry to jump on this thread - I’m TTC for about 9 months! And you all know the feeling 😩 my period was due on Sunday and on Sunday I took a test and was negative. I was so upset. I am still testing negative and I’ve no period or no signs of it coming whatsoever?

My periods are always 28 days! Some months can be 27 days! I took an ovulation test too this month - the clear blue one so I was defo ovulating!

This is driving me mad!!! I think I’ve some pregnancy symptoms but it’s hard to tell because I’ve tonsillitis currently 🙄 and I was in my GPs this week and I said to her my period is late and could it be the tonsillitis delaying it and she said no it wouldn’t be. She said there wasn’t much point in her doing a test for another few weeks…. The last time I was pregnant I got tonsillitis in my first trimester which was weird and haven’t got it since! I’ve also been vomiting but again I don’t know if it’s from my tonsiltis and I’m extremely fatigued!

Help 😩

Ugh so frustrating. I had this back in jan where my body was giving me all sorts of weird symptoms that I was so sure I was pregnant. I was 4 days late and I’m never that late. Eventually did a pregnancy test and it was negative. Then my period started genuinely 4 hours after the test.
Frustratingly it is a bit of a waiting game. Maybe test again in two days. If it’s still negative and you still haven’t had a period - I would go and see your gp.

i think the GP is talking tit. I can’t believe how tit GPs can be.

Tonsillitis is a nasty nasty bug to have and it will cause a lot of stress on the body so it will effect your cycle.

It makes perfect sense that if your immune system is down and you’re fighting an infection your period may go a bit haywire.

I would say your symptoms are down to tonsillitis and not being pregnant. Take another test to be certain x
