Does your little one go full time? Ours is £110 per day, but he’s only there 2 days a week currently but that’s still £450 with funding! 🥲 it’s insane.
Yes she’s full time, I don’t know what that works out to per day but £110 a day is eye watering isn’t it - how do they expect people to afford this? The thing that enrages me is that the staff are not seeing these whopping increases, it’s all going to the regulators and the directors and owners.
---
nursery fees are insane. mine is at a childminder, £8/hour. With the 15 funded hours it works out to £400 a month for 3 days a week, that's all i can afford. nursery fees would kill me though.
Childminders are rarer than hens teeth round here, they are just not available and the ones that are available I wouldn’t let look after a tin of sardines xx

In relation to naps... My son never napped as he "should". He always had less. It took us a long time to realise that after many split nights/very early morning/very late bed times he actually did not need much sleep in the day. 40 mins at lunch time would keep him up till 8.30-9pm. Best thing ever when he dropped the nap and now sleeps 7-7. (After 2 years of bad sleep I am allowed this minor win!)

Looking for some advice on biting! My just gone 2 year old has bitten twice this week at nursery (Monday and Tuesday!) resulting in me having to sign a behaviour form today. He went through a bit of a stage of it earlier this year but we thought he’d stopped after being able to talk more. He’s just moved up a room at nursery so wondering if that’s disrupted him.
We have the book Teeth Are Not For Biting and he definitely understands. Anything else we could be doing to help?
Mine went through a period of hitting. She’d seen it done by some other children so thought she’d test it out too - could this be what your little one is doing?

the only thing that broke the code was removal, so as soon as she did it we moved her away (she was getting her sister) and she finally got the picture. We would also say “people won’t play with you if you hurt them!” How much that sinks in I don’t know but she didn’t like being put in a separate room 😆 instant revolt

I think I’ll have to talk to the nursery about how go work together to nip it in the bud. I guess it’s not easy for them to remove him as he would need a nursery staff member with him! It just makes me so sad! He’s such a caring little boy but it’s like he sees red when he loses his temper and does it even though he knows it’s wrong 😥

Could just being given a cuddle and distracting them or something but definitely talk strategy with the staff

Sounds like your son could be friends with my girls! Although you get the win with the 7-7. My girls generally sleep 10-7.

What rough areas are people in for nursery? A little shocked at some day rates here but I guess location etc are huggggeee factors

North West, £68 per day including meals but they do charge a £1/hour subsidy for those claiming the 15 free hours.
we've only had two invoices so far which have been £600 and £400. God knows why such a massive difference when we’re only losing 3 days for Xmas closure 🥲 the tax free childcare helps massively too and knocks about £100 a month off for us (so far).

Yorkshire here & ours is a non-profit nursery. I pay £90 a week for 2 days (7am-6pm), this includes all meals etc. After 15 hour funding it's £26 a week.

My eyes water at the price of some nursery's, so we are so lucky that we have this one on our doorstep, that's highly rated by ofsted and that we actually loved when we visited it. Plus it doesn't make me feel sick at the thought of paying for a second child if we were lucky to have another one.

North west here and £65 a day. Baby breakfast goes 4 days a week and the funded hours save us about £300 a month, then the tax free childcare helps a lot too. It's varies depending on the length of the month but we usually pay about £600-700 a month. When my eldest started at the same nursery 4 years ago it was only £45 a day 😭 crazy increases but I understand why. Ours is a registered charity so non-profit which makes it cheaper than others nearby, others are £75 a day.

Birmingham here & £66 a day.
Funded hours are 8-3:30 Monday & Tuesday, we pay £6 per day funded hours for food.
Pay for a full day on Wednesdays and then we're lucky in that we both work from home Thu & Fri so we just juggle her between us :ROFLMAO:
My FIL retires in January though and they'll have her once a week which will really help us.

I think my son's nursery does a "deal" (I use the term loosely) which is £1000 a month for full time for 7am-6pm every day.

I only use the free entitlement of 15 hrs and we managed pick ups between family. All we pay is food. When the entitlement goes up next year you can bet your ass I'll be putting him in for an extra morning when I'm not at work 😂😂

I think it’s £96/d and it makes me feel sick. When my eldest was a baby I think it was £68/d and we couldn’t afford that, either - I now earn substantially more than I did then, but this is eye watering. A nanny is just out of our reach and I think you’re not always guaranteed a great one, my friends have a nanny who is basically Mary Poppins (and an ex teacher 🙃) but I think they’ve basically got themselves a unicorn.

I pay £28 for 4 hour session. Which includes snacks but not lunch and nappies. I think it’s one of the most affordable ones in my area and luckily right on my doorstep.
Iv got baby wotsit down on the waiting list for another nursery which is all year round… as I’m hoping to go back to working weekdays. ATM I’m working weekends and his dad has him while I’m at work. Feel kinda sad changing him over as they have been so amazing at the one he’s at now but they close for holidays.

That was what had me concerned - especially as, if I'd gone back to work in the UK, it would have been days/nights/bank holidays and just not knowing 100% that you've got her right person. A friend of ours has a Norland nanny and you're looking at £100k+ a year

We used to be Hertfordshire and my eldest was £68 a day then too 👀
But now we’ve moved Midlands way and currently £69 a day with a 5% discount for full time. No announced increases for April but sure it’s coming x

Also, I did take a £15K pay cut when we moved but my husband increased his salary and so balance! X

I'm near Edinburgh. We pay £63 per day for our youngest and around £35 per day for eldest with his free 30 hours. That's excluding the 20% uplift using a childcare account.

ETA: Both are full time.

A friend pays £95 per day for her little one and they go part time. They leave about half hour from us.

Large city in the north, £87 a day. We earn over the threshold for TFC and 30 free hours for which I know we are super fortunate but it’s still soo expensive. Fortunately we have timed out kids so we only need to pay for one in nursery at a time! (Don’t get me started on wraparound care 🫠)
