Just catching up with the car breakdown drama, surely the only reason he can't make calls on his phone because he's too tight to have a contract that allows it, hence being only be able to dial an emergency number? Also, he's clearly never paid out for an Uber in his life, because he doesn't need to stay outside in the heat when he hasn't even got one allocated yet, and even if he did, he could just come outside when it's near.

Also, if you use a car hire company called Budget the clue is in the name, and truth be told, they sorted it pretty quickly - unless of course you are on a schedule that has no flexibility or days off...

'What we did' 'we was going there' they both say things grammatically wrong!

This is their trademark - it's one of them really, it is what it is at the end of the day.

But when would you ever need a working cell phone on a 4,000 mile road trip?! 😆 He also could have purchased a cheap, no frills prepaid cell and service card at Target or Walmart once he got to the US for about $50 for both.

Yeah, Uber tells you when your driver is arriving and the make/model/color of the car, so I was wondering why they were camped outside all that time. The driver would also probably call once he got there if they weren't immediately apparent, but of course Shawn's got no phone. 😆🙄

And this is the guy people are supposed to take advice and guidance from?

To be fair I find his reviews of parks to be decent. Say what you want about Shawn (and we frequently do) but he does know his coasters. I've said before, he's made me aware of many new theme parks through his vlogs.

However I've always been less impressed with his logistics. They always seem driven by paying the least upfront, but often completely ignoring practicality or the add on costs. Obvious example is when he flies because it was cheaper than the train yet seems to ignore the added cost of getting to and from the airport compared to arriving in the city centre on a train. His carbon footprint must be horrendous too.

He says he researchers all the available routes but does not mention the Eurostar to pick up connections throughout Europe eg direct, fast train from Paris to Barcelona or Brussels to Cologne. I know he lives in the Midlands but lots of his viewers must use the Eurostar. It's just annoying that he makes out like he's researched this but misses out useful information.

Oh yes 100%, his theme park knowledge is incredible, and can't fault him on that. But, if you pay peanuts for a service, it's all great when it goes fine but don't expect them to move heaven or earth for you when things go wrong. Getting a replacement car to you, when you could be in the middle of nowhere, isn't a quick fix - no matter what rental company you are with - they've got to physically move a car from wherever the nearest depot is, to you. Sounds obvious, but cut the rental company a bit of slack here I think - he evidently hasn't and is FUMING and will be writing them an email, which, I bet they just fob off because you've paid a minimal amount for car hire vs. another company.

I think like a lot of YT channels, they've just gotten worse since they're both full time on this. It seems to get more and more about them and less about the topic at hand. The whole drama garbage about some rides is a prime example. He repeated himself enough before, but since Charlotte's on all the time, and she parrots what he says, he may as well just repeat everything like 4 times. He'll usually say what they're going to do at the beginning, then after each ride, then a recap at the end. Really no point watching anything but the last 3-5 minutes.

We all know Shawn has catchphrases he uses regularly. But if you haven't watched his videos for years then you may not remember the time when everything was 'nice'. It made me think of a specific video that always used to make me laugh - the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel tour one.

I've just spend 20 minutes making this compilation whilst watching the video on x2 speed so I didn't have to endure it for any longer than necessary. Enjoy this nice compilation x

PS I compressed the video which has reduced the quality so don't full screen it.

I'd argue his knowledge of the minutiae of coasters is hefty and some stuff about the parks, but I don't wouldn't listen to him about anything else because he doesn't show or try food offerings, he doesn't seem to talk about ticket offerings. Does he go over how much everything costs or is that yet another video after trips?

I think there was a video a couple of days ago with them in their house talking about costs for the US road trip.

Watching the Spain travel vlog, Charlotte sounds exhausted!
