My neice is a video editor for some YouTube channels and she gave me some insight on how money is made. YouTube changes the RPM based on the content. As of last year, finance channels were earning the highest RPM with up to $80 / 1000 views and gaming is the lowest with about $.53 -.75/ 1000 views. Subs don't impact the earnings.
That's different from CPM which is advertising revenue. If an advertiser is paying you $.40 / view and 800/1000 views get an ad, you just get paid that much.
That doesn't include affiliate sales or sponsorship.
Also it's not just your niche that impacts your views but what countries view your videos. A lot of Russian and Indian views will pay a lot less than that same amount of US and UK videos.
And finally if you have a video that gets to 1 million views in a week that pays a lot more than a video that gets to 1m in a year.
So it's very nuanced and hard to estimate their earnings. However, I'd use a VPN and go thru Russia or India to watch their content if I still watched it.
