The next James Bond

I think Barbara Broccoli has said Bond will never be played by a woman. I just don't get calls for a female Bond. Make a completely new character if you want a female MI6 action star.

We had a female 007 in NTTD.

As for Craig he did have some of the worst movies in the franchise but he also had some of the best IMO. Casino Royal and Skyfall are fabulous. Quantum of Solace is an absolute shocker but it's still not as bad No Time To Die. What an absolute travesty of a film that is. Apparently it was part of Craig's return that Bond was killed off to finish his arc :rolleyes: . Arrogant twit. A franchise and character that been around for decades with several actors and he thinks he should be able to kill the character. I can't believe Broccoli and Wilson went with that.

What's bizarre about the killing Bond idea, was Danny Boyle left as Director because they said he couldn't do that. And then they did.

And I bet Danny Boyle would've done a better job of it that what actually happened.

Whatever the reboot is, I really hope they rest the whole Spectre/Blofeld stuff. It's tired and dated. And so overdone. The retconning of Spectre into being behind everything was painful just because they got the Spectre rights back.

You're bang on. They've retconned so much that's it's lost any benefit and even a die hard fan like me rolls my eyes now. Everyone loves the odd Easter Egg but in NTTD they tried to cram in just about everything. Sign of running low on ideas.

Danny Boyle would have been great.


I'm really hoping Aaron Taylor Johnson doesn't get the gig. I'd prefer someone like James Norton. I saw him at Wimbledon recently (with his Mum) and he looked very dashing and suave. We've had a blonde Bond, now we can have a ginger. 🤣
 
They need to get back to the evil villains and their lairs in volcanos type thing with some tongue in cheek humour. I thought Brosnan (early) and Dalton got a good balance. Realism isn't exactly suited to Bond.

Oddly enough, I enjoy quantum of solace more than Casino Royale! That poker game just kills it for me.

I love the Dalton and Connery films. I have a very soft spot for Roger because he was my Bond growing up. Brosnan was very acceptable. Craig bought the franchise up to date and Lazenby is no where near as bad a people make out (plus OHMSS is a great film)

Yeah I like Roger too, for that reason. But I acknowledge he gets more and more ridiculous as his films go on 🤣

Austin Powers really did them a number on the evil villain and secret lair thing for a long time. But I feel like time has moved on enough that people want something a bit more light hearted and silly again.

I don't mind silly, but I just don't like Roger Moore as Bond. And only a couple of his Bond films I particularly like.

I really hope James Norton doesn't go down that route. He's too good an actor to be locked into a Bond contract for years on end.
Someone else on here said that in person, he was one of the most beautiful men they'd ever seen.

I wouldn't go that far but he certainly does have something about him. Bond isn't supposed to be classical handsome. He is cruel looking. More Dalton and Craig I think.

Having said that, they have moved so far away from literary Bond I don't suppose it matters.

Ana de Armas and Lashanna Lynch playing spys had the best character I thought. It was such a shame for me that Ana de Armas only had such a small role in NTTD, she was such a great, little firecracker of a character and brought a bit of light comedy to scenes. Would've loved more from her. And great chemistry with Craig, opposite his grouchy Bond.

Apart from Eva Green I would agree with that, especially with Dr Madeleine Swann. Dreary as can be and yet she is the one who was supposed to be the love of his life who he had a child with. Load of bollocks and Tracy never got a mention once during the Craig era. The whole thing ended up a mess. Let's resurrect some of the old stuff like Spectre and Blofeld but we'll forget all about Bond getting married and his wife murdered.

I can rant all day long about the Craig era and especially No Time To Die. They even killed Leiter for gods sake. They really went all out to destroy the franchise. I could even understand it more if the producers had said this is the final Bond film and we will not be making anymore, ever again. They haven't though. They want to carry on. How they plan to do that, I haven't a clue.

Can you tell I'm not a happy Bond fan? 🤣

To be fair, Tracy was from a different Bond timelime and did not exist in this Craig era.
 
I enjoyed Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig version) because it seemed for once that Bond actually got grubby and bloody during his fights...other than that one I thought the rest were awful. We didn't even bother going to the cinema to see the last one and I'm glad we didn't waste money on it because it was crap.
Killing Bond off was a ridiculous plot move, why can't they just keep making exciting films to entertain us instead of bringing all the serious crap into them. I want them to be fun, exciting, a crazy villain who wants to take over the world and then gets his comeuppance, the cars, the stunts, the gadgets...I want the gorgeous Bond girls with silly names!

In the Sean Connery era were the bond films linked or just totally different stories I cant remember?
