The next James Bond

I wouldn't be surprised if they've already approached a number of people who've turned it down due to the commitment, I'm guessing someone young will take the bait.

Bond doesn't really need a great deal of acting skill. He has no real personality, a very vague backstory, very few emotions and even his motives aren't clear or interesting. They won't use someone even slightly unusual-looking because of the amount of stunt doubling needed. It'll be someone blandly handsome in a clean-cut way, probably British, who can deliver lines reliably and use a bit of body language. He won't be a god-tier actor either, they don't need the work and won't want to be tied into a lengthy contract.

The gap between Dalton and Brosnan wasn't planned. It was caused by legal issues. There should have been a third Dalton film but by time the legal stuff was sorted Dalton was out of contract. Dalton said he would do one more but Cubby wanted more so they parted ways and then Pierce finally got his chance.

They're probably still trying to work out how to bring Bond back after the dreadful No Time To Die. 🤬 🤬

For me that was the worst Bond film ever and that's saying something given Quantum of Solace was absolutely shite.

I've never seen a Bond film all the way through, although I've seen most of Goldeneye and OHMSS. OHMSS would have been a decent film if it had featured a lead actor who could actually act.

They changed Bond to make him acceptable to younger audiences and it'll backfire. Bond was a love them and leave them. No one wanted to watch a love story with kids.

The problem now is they don't know how to move the franchise forward and it will die a death. I think they'll go for a woman Bond but it will fall flat.

Thing is you could have a female 007, but not a female James Bond. Then it becomes a completely different character. Which is fine if that's the way you want to go, but don't call it James Bond.

The Daniel Craig era had some of the worst movies of the whole franchise. They could maybe go younger and go the prequel route, or just ignore the final movie like nothing happened.
