@LasVegas702 do you read the reddit sub as well? I'm quite grateful to people like you who have an understanding of the case and the areas
I wouldn't focus on reddit sub too often because there are some people on there who don't know what they are talking about and they just repeat what is reported on in main stream media. Main stream media isn't telling the whole story imo and the prosecution isn't either imo. Especially like the Moscow Murders and Idaho 4 sub Reddits. I see misinformation on there and you just have to use what you know about how cases like this progress through the court system and how defense attorneys do their works and how prosecution teams do their work, to know if an user knows what they are talking about.

Safety Issues Might Force Closure Of Latah County Sheriff’s Office Jail In Moscow

Oct. 4, 2024

Safety issues might force the Latah County Sheriff’s Office jail in Moscow to close.

The rumor, and now campaign issue, was address publicly by Sheriff Richie Skiles in a press release on Thursday afternoon. Sheriff Skiles says that no decisions on closing the jail have been made and that the matter hasn’t been discussed publicly. He notes that the jail was built in 1973 and isn’t up to current safety standards. The statement says that late this summer the Moscow Fire Department informed Sheriff Skiles of several issues regarding doors and fire sprinklers. Sheriff Skiles says some of the problems can be addressed at “great taxpayer expense” and other issues cannot be fixed. He notes that the situation could create a liability for Latah County. The county commissioners are set to publicly discuss the future of the jail during their meeting on Tuesday.

The rumor first came to light on Wednesday afternoon when retired Moscow Police Chief James Fry posted a message on his campaign Facebook. Fry is one of two candidates who are challenging Sheriff Skiles during this fall’s general election. Fry called out sheriff Skiles for not being transparent and argues that county officials have known about the jail issues since before Skiles was elected sheriff.

This is very interesting, is Fry worried that he will not get elected this coming Nov Election 2024?!

Kohberger's defense team replies to state's objection to amended motion to strike death penalty

Bryan Kohberger's defense team argues a death verdict based on circumstances ruled in past Supreme Court rulings violates the Eighth Amendment.

MOSCOW, Idaho — The defense of the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students replied to the state's objection to strike the death penalty.

According to documents filed Friday, the state argued that issues with the manner of execution aren't "ripe," and that lethal injection and firing squad are approved methods of killing.

According to the documents, the defense argues that "if the delay and uncertainties about any eventual execution was a reason not to litigate such issues then much of the case law requiring these issues to be raised in the trial court needs revisiting."

Kohberger's defense team also argued that millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent on the case because of the State seeking the death penalty.

"The time and money being expended on the what the State implies is merely a hypothetical would itself be an injustice," the defense argued. "Unfortunately, the death penalty remains too real a possibility to be ignored."

The defense also said it acknowledges that the general judicial approach to the manner of execution claims is to "consider them as an afterthought." However, Kohberger's defense team argues in the documents that the State has no real plan to carry it out.

"Mr. Kohberger’s argument, however, is a challenge to the propriety of permitting a death verdict in this case when the State has no real plan to carry it out," the documents read. "It ought to be clear that if Idaho tomorrow adopted quartering as its method execution, no person should be forced to sit on death row awaiting a punishment that clearly would violate the Eighth Amendment."

The defense argues a death verdict based on circumstances ruled in past Supreme Court rulings violates the Eighth Amendment.

"Mr. Kohberger is not making a true Lackey claim as he has yet to spend decades on death row as the State foretells," the defense argues in the documents. "His argument is that when it is so foreseeable that the death penalty in a case is almost purely symbolic, the Constitution refuses it- because what it amounts to is a state of dehumanization that cannot be justified."

The defense cites a court ruling in 1958 when the Supreme Court ruled the Eighth Amendment didn't allow the government to denaturalize people, even in cases where death was a possible punishment.

"To permit the State to seek one where the actual means of execution are illegitimate is too great a farce for the Eighth Amendment," the defense argues. "Thus, this Court should consider the issue now."

A hearing is still scheduled on Nov. 7 for arguments on the motion challenging the death penalty.

Hoodie guy was arrested for distrubting the peace in Boise City, Idaho ( in Ada county ) and ended in the same jail that Bryan Kohberger is in. People have been talking about how his middle name is Rodgers. So people are wondering if he was Pappa Rodgers. I need to look back at the different Pappa Rodgers accounts because I remember there being more than one. I heard that Hoodie guy was out of jail in like 2 hrs or so.

hopefully that is a massive cooincidence however wasnt he meant to be a friend of one of the boyfriends\ethan who was kind of keeping an eye on the girls? So he could have had more knowledge of the crime scene than your average guy on the internet.

Yeah I heard that he was asked by Maddie's boyfriend to keep an eye on Kaylee and Maddie that night. I don't know much about what Ethan had going on as in terms of watching Maddie and Kaylee that weekend. I just know that Ethan wasn't living at the Sigma Chi frat house during the time that the murders occurred because of his bad academic performance and he was working on getting his GPA back up so that he could move back into Sigma Chi fraternity house.

Yeah I agree that Hoodie Guy would have more crime scene knowledge than your average guy on the internet but he should have been under a gag order because he should be considered a witness imo. But the other thing is there is/are few people on YouTube that have shared some screenshots of users that have posted things before the papa rodgers account has posted certain things about the case for example that LE found the sheath and etc.

So this is on the case summary page and hasn't uploaded to the website yet but the defense has filed their 18th request for supplemental discovery.

There was another retirement announcement.

WSU Police Chief Gary Jenkins to retire in 2025

Gary Jenkins, who delayed his retirement from law enforcement two years ago to help WSU when it needed a new police chief, will hang up his badge for good in June 2025. Assistant WSU Police Chief Dawn Daniels has been chosen to replace him.

Jenkins joined the university after more than four decades in law enforcement, including 12 years as chief of the Pullman Police Department. Prior to his time in Pullman, Jenkins spent nearly 33 years with the Claremont Police Department in southern California.

“We are grateful to Chief Jenkins for leading our department over the past couple of years, setting us on a constructive path that positions us well to continue moving forward with positive momentum,” Vicky Murray, associate vice president of public safety, business affairs and operations, said.

Daniels, a WSU alum, joined the department in 1998 and has progressively advanced through the ranks. She was appointed to her current role in 2022.

“Assistant Chief Daniels has dedicated her career to serving our WSU community with integrity, commitment, and unwavering professionalism,” Murray said. “Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an exceptional ability to connect with our students, inspire our team, and forge strong community partnerships while upholding the values we cherish. She understands our history, our challenges, and the importance of collaboration, transparency, and the unique nature of policing on a college campus.”

Prior to taking over as chief, Daniels will participate in a rigorous 10-week training program at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The prestigious program is geared toward equipping law enforcement professionals with the kind of skills and exposure that’s needed in law enforcement leadership roles.

The WSU Police Department will be conducting a search for a new assistant chief in the months ahead.

On Nov. 13, 2024 the defense filed Defendant's Motion for Leave

I did a google search about Motion for Leave and this is what AI found, this is very interesting. I can't wait to see what the defense will be filing.
