The ICK #11

See also: family members who want to sing at every event.

It’s a funeral hun, let’s just put My Way over a slide show and let the actual dead person have the spotlight.
I went to a concert once and someone wouldn't shut up singing along in the front row. In the end the artist stopped the concert & told them that she was the Artist people had paid to hear , not her.....

Watching an otherwise enjoyable programme today on Netflix - 'Love Is Blind'- I was sorely tempted to turn off ... never to return again ... because of the amount of times the word 'like' was used during their conversations. Some of these people used the word 'like' at least 3 or 4 times in the one sentence, e.g. 'And I was like, what would I do, like, if it was, like, something, like ...' And I thought to myself, I could never engage in a conversation with someone who talked like that all the time - I'd have to make my excuses and leave. It's probably a generational thing. But Christ, it's highly irritating!

What gives you 'the ick' about someone? Doesn't have to be about the word 'like' btw, but anything at all that makes you rage about someone/something.

Please do tell. :)

Over-use of saying, you know, or you know what I mean? Plus the word obviously seems to be over-used.

You've just reminded me of a massive ick: people playing impromptu musical performances in social settings! A bit niche I know but I just cringe so much when someone decides they are going to play a guitar etc and you have to just sit and awkwardly watch regardless of their talent.

Probably stems from my childhood, my dad used to just play the saxophone and if I asked him a question he would just stare at me and keep playing 🙄

Extra ick points if they CLOSE THEIR EYES WHILST PLAYING 😭

When people mouth what I'm saying as I'm saying it and finish my sentence
