The home made ice pops idea would have been fine. It’s a faff but it’s a good way to use up fruit etc, not groundbreaking but it’s fine. It’s the save money when we’re out bit. No one, including Alex is fannying about taking homemade ice pops out. She’s so desperate to make people think they’re not well off it’s painful to watch what she thinks people actually struggling at the moment will do. I’ve said it about a few of her posts she needs to leave it alone, it’s not a lane she should be getting into as it’s not coming across well at all. She also then trips herself up with the £7 lunchtime paninis and tiger tat, which aren’t high on anyone’s list if they’re having to watch every penny

You’re absolutely right on all of this.

I should have made clear that the premise that she takes her homemade ice pops out & about with her to save ££ is the joke. I do not believe her for one minute. Idiocy!

Making your own for your kids to have at home is totally normal (and hardly a revelatory idea for her middle class huns)

God, that hair. Maybe he has some scalp or skin issue that means he has to lay off the regular washes. That can be the only explanation. They have plenty of time for him to have a quick shower every day and god knows they receive plenty of fancy shampoo & bodywash freebies PR samples.
My scalp is an absolute nightmare and I find letting my hair get dirty makes it so much worse! None of them ever have clean hair. Frugal showers maybe? 🫣

Yes hit the nail on the head above! The problem with her is she is SO desperate to try and outdo people with her advice, be groundbreaking or suggest new things. But there’s a reason nobody suggests tit like this because it’s useless and weird advice?

It’s not enough for her just to be like ‘we make homemade ice lollies with leftover fruit etc’ she has to go the extra mile and claim she takes them on days out without offering any information about how on earth they stop them melting etc. All to save on £2ish which they then put towards a £7 panini 🥴

She seems like she is unravelling FAST at this point

It’s ridiculous. I feel so cross that she sends this message that by making a home made ice lolly, that decision is going to result in your owning a house in London, going on holiday and having expensive house renovations.
This is so damaging. Especially when most people just cannot make their money stretch at the moment. It suggests that people are failures, for not making these small tweaks to their lives.

If you’re also going to cut down on sourdough, you’ll be living in One Hyde Park soon!

Bit different and don't wish to derail but I can't see a thread on her so; thoughts on Katherine Ormerod? I quite like her, I think she has great taste/style but bloody hell the gurning and posing is really off the scale at the moment and I don't understand her latest "my landlord has put the rent up and we can't afford it" situation. She seems to live a very affluent, privileged life.

Just checked her out and can’t tell enough to say from her grid alone. But for most of these huns the parents sorting out their property (and the school fees, and the children’s savings) is what affords them a their disposable income on what tends to be a pretty average salary. If this hun doesn’t own then she’s going to find it difficult to keep up with the intergenerational wealth girlies 🤷🏻‍♀️

Still stuck on the ludicrous claim that they can’t wear their summer clothes lest they get ‘lost in the washing’. Umm what? Such a glaring sign that they have a hoarding problem - so much stuff they can’t even wear weather appropriate clothing without losing track of it. (Which then leads to acquiring more stuff). The house isn’t even that big, it’s just packed to the rafters. She doesn’t own her stuff, it’s owning her.

She readily admits to being obsessed with her weight which is part horrific part fascinating (the honesty!) to me.
I think she had a mortgage on a flat and was in a chain to buy a house when the flat market collapsed in lockdown and her buyer pulled out at the 11th hour. So she rents out her flat and rents a larger property for herself and I think is still rather aggrieved at the unfairness of it all. For someone who wrote a book about how social media is ruining your life, she seems obsessed with it. Maybe she needs a thread

i was trying to find the link to frugality in having a completely separate wardrobe just for holidays. Next she'll be saying how you can save on luggage fees by simply keeping the summer clothes in your holiday home

I don’t know if this is going to make sense but you know how womens magazines were always packed with ludicrous advice and tips that was obviously page filler nonsense?? It’s like Alex is a living embodiment of that?
‘Save money by making kids ice lollies at home for days out’
‘Keep your summer clothes packed and ready to go for a holiday at a moments notice’

None of it makes sense but it’s not a page in a magazine you can shake your head at and think ‘who gets paid to write this nonsense’ and promptly forget. She’s actually trying to kid people you can live this way?

your child broke their leg and can't go to the water park? stick their good foot in a bowl of water at home! (this also helps save on travel/entry fees and is thus a great frugal tip)

I feel like my joke about Chris washing his hair in the cooking oil has fallen flat 🙈 maybe poorly worded? 😳
Also looked at the washing holiday clothes story, and surely she’s just doing what everyone else does without making a song and dance of it, ie specifically wearing clothes you aren’t taking on holiday when your holiday is imminent? If they aren’t going away within the next week, then yes this is super weird 🤔

Are they actually going on holiday? I know she said they weren’t going to Spain this year but has she mentioned somewhere else and I’ve missed it? Or is she just being weird not wearing her weather appropriate clothes and then sticking the machine on in the evening? I mean a family of four must easily produce a load of washing on a hot day? And that’s before the kids end up throwing a melted home made lolly all over themselves because their mother insists they take out home made ones and they’ve melted in her handbag
