Last night, hearing about Pete’s depression and how it’s significant enough he’s not going to California did affect me. He describes it as some of the worst of his life. I do believe that even without what has come out, Pete has significant life challenges on several fronts. I think with poor mental health and a mob mentality coming after him it could be quite devastating. I am very concerned about him relapsing, that would be very sad. I hope he has people around him to get him help and support.

My personal opinion is the depression was an excuse given to listeners. I find it much more likely he isn’t going because of the lawsuit and conflict with Dreams.

And dethroning is funny, to me the word demise means end or death so that’s why I mentioned it.

I edited my post a bit because my words were inadequate.

I was trying to convey something and did so poorly, and so I apologize to everyone.
I understood what you were saying. One can have empathy for ones mental health struggles, but acknowledge that a person needs to still be held accountable. Like I said in a prior post, I enjoyed some of his takes and reviews, he had some really funny moments. Yet, his actions towards some were reprehensible and now he gets to deal with the fallout. I'm truly not 100% convinced his not going to the DL trip is depression vs. being possibly asked not to come.

Thanks Jenilynn!

Ok more thoughts.
I know John doesn’t own dis / the podcast, so pay roll and such is separate, but I do think John would swoop in and try to revive the podcast and brand so that Dreams doesn’t eventually fall by the way side. John wasn’t born yesterday. He is 25 years into this with Pete. He’s probably going to try and protect his brand and the employees that don’t deserve this.

I’ve been watching consistently since 2014. I loved when John and Kevin did dining reviews. I miss the excitement they had for Disney, but i understand they’re ten years older now and Disney itself has changed too. Would love to see a resurgence on the show with them, Panda, Deni, Sean, anyone as a guest really. Bring us some people we’ve loved before that Pete has burned! Lastly, the Kreigers - they moved to FL for jobs that seem to have been orchestrated by Pete. I think they’ll be fine, but interested to see the fall out.

The old John and Kevin dining reviews were great--for as "Karen-y" as Kevin can be, his personality and cultured approach is perfect for these kinds of dining reviews. Much better than hearing Ryno and Craig whine about how their 4th bbq sandwhich of week was soggy.

I wouldn't want any one who left to return to the show, with the possible exception of Panda. These people moved on, and I hope they find success elsewhere. Panda is the exception because he genuinely seemed to enjoy the work and was excellent both in front of and behind the camera (maybe Deni too but I'm not a fan of hers--she talks too much like a kindergarten teacher).

The Kriegers make oodles of cash pimping out DVC/lending money to buy DVC. I'm sure they get a nice advertising bump from the Dis, but they'll be more than fine without it.

I'm hoping John and Kevin can right the ship. I mentioned earlier in this thread that they could probably get some great talent and reinvigorate the show on the cheap, since the built-in Dis Unplugges audience is already there. Even slight improvements to the content could make them a dog in the Disney parks media races again.

It would absolutely line up with his reported behavior.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, though. His fiance left him, he has this enormous credit issue, the internet is catching on to his past behavior, and his business seems to be slipping through his fingers. Anyone, good or bad, would be depressed going through this stuff.

I do feel bad for Pete, and I think starting a mob to go after him, get the Dis' press passes revoked (which would hurt Craig more than anyone else), trying to get Dreams/the Dis shut down, sold, etc. is just too far. The guy is suffering, and maybe he deserves it. We should pity him instead of demanding more blood. We certainly shouldn't be hurting others in our attempts to hurt Pete.

Just curious... would you still feel bad if it was you instead of Dustin or Sean?

I should have clarified. I fully believe he is depressed, I just don’t believe his depression is the reason he isn’t going to Disneyland.

Totally agree with you there, someone like Pete would eat up the attention he'd get at these events.

Side note--his constant talk about how people aren't "there" for him in his depression. Could he be talking about John, Kevin, and the other Dreams employees turning on him in light of the lawsuit?

This isn’t for Dustin or Sean to concern themselves with. I support them sharing their experiences. They have not asked anyone to do anything on their behalf and I honor that integrity.

I want to say to @DisneyVloggerFails I do resonate with some of what you are saying. This is taking on a life of its own and it’s exploded in a short time and maybe getting out of hand.

Our previous thread titles were just funny and punny. This one about the demise of Pete Werner goes too far IMO. I am like whoa, I don’t want anyone’s demise.

My other words felt misguided and wrong. I just want to reflect on what’s come out.
After hearing what he has done to innocent people for years, I don't have that much compassion for him.
What about his victims' depression. Also we are responsible to be self-aware and Pete has zero of that. From his tantrums, to manipulation, predator behavior and narcissism...nope he should have gotten help for himself.

I don't feel bad for the bad things he did. Monstrous behavior.

I can still empathize with his depression and seeing his world falling around him.

Pity is the best word to use. He made his bed, but it still must suck to be sleeping in it.

I understand your point. I have empathy for mental health issues. However, it's very difficult to feel bad for someone's depression that is a direct result of their actions. It seems depression is used instead of taking accountability.

I’m sorry but don’t bring that bleeding heart nonsense here just because you have depression doesn’t mean you get to make other people suffer with your disgusting attitude, mental abuse and sexual alleged assaults.

I thought about that too. Definitely sounded like it.
It is hard to feel sorry for Pete and his depression when he spent 25 minutes going on and on about how people are mean to him and how vindictive he sounds.

I've said this in the last thread... I do not think Pete is truly sober. He's dry. He's still is an active addict with a typical addict's behavior ("I want what I want and I want it now!", no accountability, excuses, etc.)

He just replaced alcohol and drugs with spending, control and sex addictions.

Sean and Dustin; all I can say is I am in shock by all of this. I've been on The Dis Boards for years and also very often watched Dis Unplugged on YouTube. I could take or leave Pete but his epic rants entertained me. I'm so sorry to hear that so many people were going through such trauma.
Do either of you know what happened to Oliver. He was one of my favorites but I got an icky feeling from Pete whenever he was in studio with Oliver. There was obvious flirting and obvious "in" jokes between them. I know Oliver has moved on in his personal life, but I often wonder what happened during his time at The Dis.

This is what I have such a problem with, placing his depression and care on others. By doing this, he is making himself the victim and not seeing how his actions have hurt others.

I'm searching and failing to find a quote from one of the early threads about what Craig said about Pete, something like Pete is a tragic human being, ring any bells? Maybe it was @Jafar

Hard to believe this was over a year ago.

100% and I think that’s evident for anyone to see! Any long time viewer can tell he has his addictions. DVC for example. He bought one contract then before we knew it he had like 10.

Agreed. You can feel bad/pity someone’s unfortunate mental health struggles. However that doesn’t negate his actions and the damage he has caused to others.
