I hate the new layout for the articles. I like Classical Homepage display, I can get this on my laptop 💻 in work but on my mobile at home I can only get an annoying display with a blue band across the top and a drop down to select News, Showbiz etc.

If you’re on iPhone you can press Aa and then click on ‘request desktop site’. I’m sure android has something similar

Why are have there been so many stories about ‘Gails’ bakery in the DM recently? I’ve never even heard of them before and on looking at their website they’ve got hardly any branches outside of London, so hardly a ’middle class rival’ to Greggs like they’re making out. This is a really weird article that seems like an undeclared advert.

Bizarre. Comparing chalk and cheese and there's a market for both. I've got a Greggs and a Gail's near me and go to both depending on my mood. Gail's isn't all that TBH. Bit like Pret really.
 
I can't see why Greggs gets so much attention, whenever I've gone there it's always been an under-filled dried out pasty that's sat there for 2hrs.

Sayers is where it's at, the king of hot savory snacks, a cheese and onion pasty or a veg pasty is a thing of beauty, mmm delicious 😋
Sayers alone makes it worth relocating to the North West 👍

Sayers are great. They've been around forever and when I was a kid they sold all sorts including cooked meats and cheeses and most had a cafe too. Their cheese and onion pasties are the best and I'm partial to a Manchester tart too.

Oh God! Don't mention Manchester Tart or you'll set me off! I've been pining for decades for this dessert. 😥
Every time I get a sniff of one it's never a patch on the one made by the school dinner ladies. 😥
Turns out I'm not the only one judging by the online replies I got to my posts alternately ranting and begging for the recipe.🙄 😁
Someone cheffy once replied saying it wasn't custard in it, but something that sounded like creme patissiere 🤷‍♀️
ETA I've even begged a TV chef to feature the recipe. They replied in a non plussed way saying they would look into it, and might feature it, as they'd NEVER HEARD OF IT!!!!! 😲😳😬😫🤐🤨🤬

Please explain more about the junkie thing. I find this man (who I only ever see in the DM) and his 1980s hairdo very confusing.
 
The whole "just like Call of Duty" Ukraine reportage angle is rather unfortunate.
If it is "just like COD" then Zelensky needs to know if he picks up enough intel items first run through then he can replay the levels in slow motion.
This makes stuff a lot easier.
