The Coronation of King Charles III #3

1
It made sense to hold the coronation in May so that all the companies involved had work during a quiet period. But I think they should have delayed the bank holiday until the summer kings birthday.

Went to the Abbey yesterday afternoon to do the tour including the Coronation Theatre (only available this week ... booked a few weeks ago) which was great to see. The space occupied by the gold carpet is much smaller than it looks on TV. And there were some of the big plates out but the very biggest bits of gold had unsurprisingly already been locked away. The screen is breathtaking up close, such talent.

The gift shop already had postcards and other tat like bookmarks and bags all featuring the in-ceremony photos of Charles and Camilla in their crowns, they hadn't wasted any time, a bit like how X-Factor used to show them rushing to get the winning single pressed and in the shops by Monday 🤣

I was wondering who this was at the Coronation. Turns out it's Lady Margarita Armstrong -Jones.

My children didn't get given coronation mugs. The council provided them for the last 2 jubilees. I might see if I can buy one somewhere. However, we got given a coronation wristband at the fair we went to.

And now when I type ' cor' my phone no longer predicts I might want to type coronavirus any more.

In no circumstances can you imagine The Queen doing this.

To give him the benefit of doubt - it was a big build up, they should have had the timings locked down, he is elderly, he was nervous…
…however, he has form for petulance and that looks poor. Poor Camilla stuck with that curmudgeon.

I’d not heard of anybody getting mugs for any jubilees or the coronation although I saw lots for sale. Think I’d have been annoyed with the council spending money on something that not everybody would want when their bills are going up so much.

Really, in a car with that was unexpectedly delayed with only her husband to hear, she wouldn’t have little ‘Miss Piggy’ grumbly moment? Not that you’d probably be able to hear her over Prince Philip. It’s the Royal equivalent of being stuck at the traffic lights and I’m just glad I’m not important enough for lip readers to be wheeled out. If you can‘t have a moan in the privacy of your own golden coach, when can you?

He just reminds me of my grandad or even my dad. Getting dragged to a family occasion he’d rather not do instead of sitting at home with his paper and tv.
They’d have a grumble too if it All had been planned to the second but still had to wait. I don’t think there’s any malice in him being grumpy he’s just an elderly man, probably the most nervous he has ever been and wanting to get the ball rolling and back to his palace with his slippers and pjs 🤣

Charles has always been tetchty.

Same here. My dad got less patient the older he got. He reminds me of him so much, same with the pen incident too.
