In the first season, Sugar fired the two capable candidates out of the final four, because there were rumours they only participated to get on TV, and was left with two incompetent candidates for the final: Tim Campbell (who was similarly bland as a judge on this season) and Saira Khan (who bullied a shop owner into giving her a microwave for free). I believe one or both of them even made a loss at the event they planned for the final episode.
Interesting how, nowadays, many candidates participate to get famous and it's not a problem at all (with the exception of pyjama girl in the final, perhaps). How the world has changed.

Tom Pellereau stands out to me as one of the few really interesting candidates, although I'd personally never see the need for a curved nail file!

Can't wait for the new series already. The latest one lacked with the tasks because they couldn't really go anywhere.
They've always done an abroad task. To confuse them all by a non English speaking country.

Also, I know the media likes to bash the BBC, but it isn't the BBC making the show. It's the production company and they choose the locations etc, the BBC just pay a fee to buy the show essentially.
