Teen Mom USA (The Next Chapter and Family Reunion) #5

The constant using of any excuse to bring up the issues they had in their life. Its always about them and their problems. Very self focused and im sure they went through alot as kids and they had lots of therapy over the years to deal with it but i dont think they talk much about anything else other than their trauma. They have let it consume every conversation they have and they dont seem to leave room for other people. And the adoption was their choice so they need to live with it and accept it and b&t as carlys parents. Theyre being extremely entitled to think they have a right to see her because the day they signed those papers was they day they lost that entitlement.
I think it’s because of the show though, I doubt they do this day in day out. And have you seen Tyler’s latest stories? He acknowledges they lost the right as B&T are her parents but as humans are allowed to have feelings and recognise it as trauma/ a huge regret, both can be true. It’s a bit strange to have zero empathy towards them for B&T cancelling visits, it’s veryyy heartless on their part

I do agree that they think they are more entitled than they shouid be but I do think this stems from the fact they were 16 and far too young to make that decision. They believed that they would have more involvement with Carly. Dawn took total advantage of them. They both came from messed up homes and they are trauma bonded imo. Both of them are mentally messed up and I swing between thinking their dedication to each other is sweet but then unhealthy. They will never get over giving Carly up, they said they did it to better themselves altgough they haven’t achieved what they said they would. But although I agree with what you have said and described them as I wouldn’t say it’s narcissistic.

Absolutely. And at 16 and penniless they'd have had no idea how their lives would turn out - eg homeowners and parents to Carly's full siblings.

It must eat them alive knowing they probably could have kept her - but they made the decision as CHILDREN living at home with Butch and April who were active users and butch was facing prison time. That was the environment they tried to protect Carly from and why they gave her up.

They couldn't have pictured their lives as they are now.

And I agree with them. B&T telling them in May there's not a single time for the rest of the year they're free, even for a dinner or a day out ? C'mon, that's nasty.

Exactly I reckon most people who give their children up for adoption must have a percentage of regret unless they are absolute down & outs ending up in prison or in addiction or something where there is absolutely no way they could imagine having the child they gave away. Nobody could have predicted cate and ty being where they are now, maybe if they had kept Carly and stayed on the show, they may still have split their r any other scenario could have happened. I do think it’s odd to say there’s no time at all in a single year they have time, and either they aren’t giving the real reason to cate and ty or cate and ty aren’t revealing it

Maybe Carly doesn’t want to see them. I can’t imagine being 15 and all the struggles that go along with that but also having to process your parents giving you up but keeping your sisters

Also maybe B&T don’t think the OF is appropriate
Loads have commented this as speculation on the gossip instas but they’ve cancelled/ been flaky for years so neither can be true, they’re just horrible people at the core, this Christian act is bullshit. I just think I have so much empathy for Cate and Ty as someone who had people pushing me into adoption (and even termination) with my eldest as I was young and come from a fucked up family/ relationship at the time. I just look at my daughter sometimes and can’t imagine going through that, knowing she’d be living life without me, the guilt of giving her up and having my annual visits cancelled by some nasty control freaks who are adding to the already very painful situation. Especially realising that you’re the cycle breaker and are more than capable of raising them. I would’ve no doubt ended up in some sort of facility like Cate

The thing is they were so young and vulnerable when they had Carly? I doubt B&T ever thought they would still be together now and go on and have full siblings??it’s such a mess

possibly not or that the ‘Teen Mom’ thing would be as big and they would still be in the public eye. It always strikes me that there’s some sort of uncomfortable irony in that T and C have the stability (at least financially) that meant they couldn’t look after C because of decision to adopt.

Carly’s not wanting it either I agree is a possibility.

coming out to say how disappointed they are is showing that they can’t put Carly’s needs/feelings first.

they still seem to keep bringing her up constantly. I feel if they were more private and discrete it would help BT to feel comfortable and they would see her more. They probably worry that the details of every meeting would be schilled to the tabloids or click bait sites.

I do think at the time they’d a lot of people pushing their opinions onto them and it massively influenced their decision. I still believe it may not have been fully what they wanted or maybe they believed initially that they would have more access than they did/have had. It’s a difficult decision to make as an adult never mind as a child.

IIRC it’s Tyler that actually wanted it. Cate didn’t really and April and Amber both questioned it whether she was doing it for him in unseen moments

Ryan and his girlfriend went OTT for Maci

I haven’t watched any of the family reunion eps yet but keep seeing the clips everywhere… Watching bits where Leah was off her face and then didn’t drink the next day cause of drama she had due to being too drunk. Cringy how she’s either pretending not to remember anything and even worse if she actually didn’t remember. Didn’t she write in her book about how she stays away from alcohol and drugs and also had issues with drink? Yet the show has her binge drinking on a wild trip… same situation with Sean! Why is MTV allowing and encouraging these addicts to binge drink and relapse!

That’s MTVs end game, every programme they produce and play out involves drinking and plying people with drink, like Geordie shore. They have consistently shown that they will encourage anyone with addiction issues or substance abuse issues and plead ignorance I don’t honestly know how they get away with it.
I haven’t seen anything past ep 4 and haven’t seen any clips but I have seen Kaiya and Rachel arguing over insta about it all 🙄

True. Always weird to me the GS cast were encouraged to drink and party excessively but then sacked Marty and Scott for drugs. What did you think was going to happen in that environment you created?
