It's now a generic milk chocolate blend, isn't it? There was that fuss about Creme Eggs a few years ago, IIRC.

There was some "reduced sugar" Dairy Milk on sale for dirt cheap the other day so, sucker for choccie that I am, I thought I'd give it a go. It was absolutely horrendous, with that awful aftertaste. Like you I can only eat actual Dairy Milk now. The original ones, not the crazy new varieties when they put really weird bits of stuff in it. I'm sure there was one with Ritz crackers.

BTW, I live in one of the UK's most notorious flood zones. And the river has taken over.

This is exactly what it's like trying to get into the town centre on foot this morning.

Thankfully our house is on higher ground, so not directly affected. But a lot of people are. :(

  1. Sending hugs to any other Tattlers going through the same right now. Stay safe.

Oh that's not good @ChipDex - hope the flooding isn't too devastating today!
I'm high on a hill but close to the coastline. so areas of my city do flood quite badly. I feel lucky to be up so high, though we did get quite battered in the winds.

I'm sat here so cold today - I try not to put the heating on in the daytime normally anyway but our boiler has been broken since Saturday, so no hot water or heating. Someone was supposed to come out yesterday, fingers crossed they make it today.
My eldest son has OCD, so washes a lot (especially his hands and feet) and he's so stressed out having to do it in cold water - it makes you appreciate the things we take for granted when we don't have it doesn't it?

I would like to say that the new Cadbury formula has made me eat less chocolate but it hasn't! I just eat bags and bags of chocolate buttons now. I never seem to get fed up with them! Also, how come Easter Egg chocolate tastes better than the same choc in chunkier format? I could eat Easter Eggs until the cows come home...om nom

Thanks @spangly The water hasn't quite peaked yet, but the drains are already so overwhelmed with flood water that there is raw sewage coming up in some parts of the town. :(

I hope you can get your heating/hot water fixed soon.

And I am also addicted to chocolate buttons, but only the Cadbury ones. Any other brand just isn't the same at all.

I'm talking pocket money now. When I was little my brother and I were both given sixpence (2 and a half p) each week. We'd go to the corner shop and spend ages choosing sweets with our great fortune.

I remember when we had half a crown (25p) a week and thought we were soooo rich. I could even save up with that amount. 😅
You were lucky! When I was little my best friend was given sixpence a week for sweets but I never dared to ask my parents because I thought we were poor. Of course years later my mother laughed and said I should have told her!

Just seen the river Severn bordering villages under water....looks grim. 🥺

What's the going rate for pocket money these days?

All this flooding seems to get worse every year. I'm hoping the barriers in the Ouse in York hold out. It looked really bad on the news last night, but they were expecting the water to raise over the following 18 hours.

Blimey I didn’t see the paps taking pictures of me coming back from Greggs 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Not my best look 🤪

When I was very young, I used to read trashy American novels (although I thought they were the height of sophistication at the time) and often for some reason Hershey bars would be mentioned.
I imagined some luxurious American chocolate bar and desperately wanted one 😂 So, many years later on my first trip to the US, one of the first things I did was buy one.
What a let down. To me, it truly smelt and tasted like 🤢 and I was disproportionately sad about it. All those years of yearning and it wasn’t a patch on European chocolate.

Same!! I was desperate to try one so I bought one of the ones in the brown wrapper from the shop in the lobby of the Empire State Building. It was absolutely vile so I ended up spitting it out into a tissue and chucking the remains in the nearest bin.

Luckily they were also selling imported Creme Eggs (the nice original ones). So I had three to take the taste away. :)

Cadburys chocolate tastes different around the world - when I went to Oz it wasn't as sweet or creamy so only a crunchie would sort out my sweet tooth on occasion.

Love chocolate buttons and dairy milk but I do eat less creme eggs now they've changed the recipe - though I am partial to a creme egg mcflurry!

Apparently the different tastes in chocolate depend not only on the recipe used, but also where the cocoa beans are from because like many things the cheaper ones don't taste as good. I had a tour around a local choclatier and how they make chocolate which was fascinating.

Happy to report the greenhouse glass has been fixed ahead of tomorrow's gales. I will have to replace the old clips over the weekend as many are rusting and breaking which I think is why I'm losing the glass.

I always wanted to try Hersheys Kisses. I went to stay with my lovely friend in North America and she put a whole jar of them next to my bed as a special treat. I tried one and what a crushing disappointment. But I didn’t dare tell her in case I hurt her feelings so took a few out of the jar each day and hid them in my suitcase.

Oh Spooks, I adore that show! Certain episodes avoided though. It's such a good "who's who" of the acting world. What is it about the genre that's just so brilliant?
Glad everyone is keeping safe from the weather. It's being very temperamental at the moment.
My darling cat looks very similar to the one in the Titanic trailer Carpe posted, just less fluffy. I'll have to show it to her, maybe she'll want to star in the sequel? 😜
