I'm so happy I've not actually seen these comments because it's pissing me off. Say she'll come back to Vienna? So that terrorists can already start planning for next time?

Some of these people need to realise that it was bigger than just your personal disappointment and hurt feelings, and we'd all have a lot more to be sad about if lives were lost. She has handled it the best way she could imo, and that's not just 'swiftie defending her mindlessly no matter what' that's actually having basic awareness of what goes into these anti-terrorism operations.

Prepared to go down in flames for this BUT
although I agree it's a well written statement I just wish she added a tiny bit more, a small apology for Vienna. At the start of every show she thanks everyone for coming/planning their outfits etc. If she added an extra line like cancelling these shows was devastating and I'm sorry to everyone impacted in Vienna. However safety will always be the priority and we're grieving concerts etc.
I get its not really her responsibility, the authorities cancelled it, I just feel like that tiny bit was missing when she is usually so polite.

*but I dont agree with all the other nonsense that's being complained about

She did say the cancellation of the Vienna dates was devastating. Along with saying thanks to the authorities we were grieving concerts and not lives. I understand there’s no direct message to the fans who should’ve been in attendance at those shows but it’s still very much a can’t please everyone situation.

I think she said what was needed, in a much more succinct and polite way than she could have done because some of the comments over the past two weeks — not just aimed towards her but also comments on the dancers/crew/bands posts — have been absolutely horrible. I hope they all get a well deserved rest now.

I actually think the reason she didn’t include more to not more attention to the impact of the cancellation for the would be attackers, their goal is ultimate devastation and I think too much said about being sad and sorry would give them some sense of achievement or god knows what to warped brains. I’m guessing this piece was carefully worded with the aid of professionals.

She also doesn’t have to apologise because it wasn’t her fault
It is not her fault that some awful terrorists were going to do this, no. But the fans came to see her, so I think acknowledging that with a small apology directly to them would have landed better for me. Fans are the reason why any artist is commercially successful right?
Some people have been complete dickheads about it. I agree with the person who said no matter what she wrote it would be wrong. The pressure on her must be insane and it must be hard to be level headed and rational in these situations.

ETA: if I invited my friend somewhere and she crashed her car on the way, even though it's not really my fault I'd feel guilty and apologise for her cos she was coming to see me.

An apology is the acknowledgment of wrong doing, to apologise for a situation were you are not at fault is false. What you are asking for is a weird sort of performative apology to fans that are sulking because she took steps to save lives, possibly even her own and her staff.

Those fans are no longer at risk but there is still a potential for danger for herself and those working on the tour never mind the many tens of thousands of concert goers.

Usually folk claim the fans make everything about Taylor but I think for once the fans are actually making it all about themselves not realising this effects Taylor more because it's an ongoing situation for her.

Taylor and her team literally did the right thing. It would have been wrong of them to go ahead despite a very real and very serious threat that international intelligence had picked up on. The main culprits were arrested, everyone who planned to attend the concerts are safe and no lives were lost.

People should be thanking Taylor, Taylor's team and the authorities for protecting everyone - she definitely has nothing to apologise for.

I think that's your issue. Stop apologising for things that are not your fault and out of your control.
This reminds me of the scene in Miss Americana where Taylor catches herself apologising for something and then sarcastically saying "oh sorry was I too loud in my own house" or something. It's one of the times I've found her most relatable because I've been trying to unlearn apologising for things that aren't my responsibility and it is hard!

I think Taylor's statement found a good balance between acknowledging Vienna, explaining her silence (even though she shouldn't have had to!) and celebrating the shows that did go ahead. It's nice to see her addressing all the pressure that people put on her to speak out about any and everything because that must be exhausting to live with.

I've seen a few people saying that Taylor should have acknowledged Vienna at the start of a show at Wembley and I personally don't agree. I think it would have been really distressing for everyone there to be reminded of something that almost happened to a concert crowd while stood/sat in the same situation they would have been in. I think waiting until there was a break in the tour schedule was the right choice.

I hope Taylor and everyone else involved with the tour has a nice break now and gets lots of rest surrounded by loved ones.

I do agree with this! Even though cancelling is generally not well received it is such a relief that they put everyone's safety first, especially when TS is also accused of being a capitalist queen.

So much has happened during this tour, I really hope we get some more BTS footage.

Keep seeing TikTok videos from what looks like the Premier Inn rooms and can’t help but think if anyone here was in the same one as us, potentially next door to us 😂
We were in Premier inn at Paddington ( the new one ) but as my granddaughter was in the video it’s not on Tiktok

You’d apologise to someone who crashed their car en route to a place you’d invited them to, even though you weren’t present and had no involvement in the accident? Why?

I wouldn’t apologise for something that had nothing whatsoever to do with me and that I didn’t cause and couldn’t prevent, nor would I feel guilty about it.
