I think were it someone you had just met and dated a bit then it would be an overreaction but in the case of someone you’ve known for years, regarded as a friend, was your ’one who got away’ and has himself had several long term relationships and said you were the love of his life, it’s not.

You just wouldn’t expect them to just ghost you after a long build up, especially given he hasn’t seemed to have trouble committing in the past.

I get why it would feel super hurtful to not get an explanation and just get left.

Oh for sure, she’s cheated on so many of her boyfriends but god forbid someone walks out on her because they’re getting death threats from her fans.
(Not to defend Matty I will always be a hater but I don’t think he did anything that wrong considering the heat he was getting for all of it)

How is it any different to how she treated Tom or Joe in the end though?
There’s also a lot more to it considering he was being publicly ripped to shreds by her fan base at the time and it probably caused him some kind of mental health crisis

Right but if I had cheated on a previous partner, does that mean I can’t ever be upset if a future partner cheats on me and they are therefore absolved of their actions and can’t be held accountable?

Everyone has done bad things it doesn’t mean then any bad things that happen to them shouldn’t hurt them.

He didn’t cheat on her though, he left because people were literally ripping him to shreds and sending him death threats for associating with her.

Obviously she can be upset but I just think TSMWEL is a big overdramatic and self righteous, especially when she’s done much worse to other people.
(Also I hate defending Matty 😭)

Honestly I think part of the reason it went so badly was because she hard launched her break up and then a new relationship within a few weeks, and she went from someone unproblematic to someone who’s publicly an asshole.

I’m not sure why she thought it was a good idea to do that; should’ve kept it on the DL for at least three months

We don’t know that’s why he left tbf. It’s speculation. I was using cheating as an analogy, not saying he did.

and I guess it might seem overdramatic but it’s how she feels and also, it wouldn’t make the best song if it didn’t use some dramatic license. TSMWEL is a better title than ‘you were a bit of a prick but oh well’ haha. The same could be said for All Too Well.

The thing about how badly she supposedly treated Tom and Joe is also stuff we are inferring from her own music, her own admissions… as far as I know neither have ever said she did anything wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️ so if we’re saying she treated them so badly then it’s because she has told us that.

We don't know that that's all he did or said to her though when they broke up.

I agree that the strategy of introducing him was a big part of the problem though. The declarations of love through song was just bizarre AF. Maybe their relationship was about to be leaked or something and so it went from 0-60 but it's still weird.
