I agree with the different points made on this topic. You can't do much about your genes. But I wasn't comparing Tanya to 35-year-olds who lucked out genetically, but to what I expect (and see) women in that age group to look like, which is a generalization, of course, and includes women with all kinds of face shapes, skin problems, personal habits, etc. I think women / people can hold on to healthy good looks for very long in our society, at least if they are not afflicted with poverty, extreme workload, or addiction. Even celebrities who smoke and tan manage to keep their skin looking good. And this is what surprised me. Tanya has a very comfortable life, works in the beauty industry (in a way), and has access to all kinds of "help" with skin and body issues. And yet she doesn't look great, sometimes even unwell. It's weird to see her advertising makeup kits worth hundreds of pounds when her own looks don't suggest that they work in any way. I know a lot of content produced by influencers is "fake." The use of filters and editing makes people look better than they do naturally. But at the same time we have a lot of tools to actually look good. And I'm not talking about luxury products or clinical procedures but simple, accessible things like diet, general lifestyle, and reasonably priced skincare with active ingredients. I've heard so many women say, their skin in their thirties and forties is better than it was in their twenties due to better skincare, and this has been my experience as well. That's why it surprised me to see Tanya not looking as good as I would expect from someone of her age and her privileges. And she has been getting procedures, so where are the results / benefits?
There’s an interesting question in this — do influencers owe it to the consumer to look good, or is it ultimately up to the consumer to decide whether they will be influenced by a specific influencer?
hope that makes sense
Unrelated, but I haven't watched her recent few vlogs, so idk what exactly she’s shilling these days. I can say I’d never buy any of the clothes she shills because she makes them look bad simply because nothing is ironed, everything is wrinkly and not paired well (to me). I definitely don’t see Tanya as a fashion influencer in any capacity, but it seems that’s what she’s trying to break into. Does anyone else get the sense that she’s actually very insecure about her natural fashion sense (or lack thereof)? Hence why she copies entire outfits from others, down to the tiniest details…I will never forget the insane outfits she used to wear in the Britcrew days
