To clarify, it wasn’t like Whit and Cat were having full blown conversations in Yoruba; Cat said their Yoruba wasn’t that good lol. They would just say phrases. And no one else minded it; in fact they were teaching Jess words and even Sammy was picking it up. I just think Kady got triggered because this was around the time where Whit and Zach were getting to know each other, and Kady had a problem with it -she mentioned tensions where high around this point but it was resolved.
little confused on why everyone thinks they where purposely having their own full blown conversation in a group of people?
Sorry but when Kady was kicking off because “nObOdY keEps mE in the LoOp” Whit and Cat speaking in Yoruba near her is objectively very very funny lmao

Glad someone said it!! I personally find that quite an ignorant thing to do. I wouldn't start speaking Irish to a fellow Irish person in a group of people who I knew didn't speak the language. It's very "mean girl". Makes me like Whitney and Catherine even less tbh.
Sorry I can’t agree with this.

Sometimes, the best way to express yourself is in a different language. There’ll be something that is just funnier or more serious in my parents language, I’ll often mix it with English and because I do it so much my friends who don’t speak it have picked up stuff. It’s like one of the Real Housewives shows, they often flit between Spanish and English and nobody bats and eyelid because in Miami so many people are bilingual.

Obviously if you’re in a big group and having a conversation with everyone else and then start it doesn’t work, but let’s say they were sat next to each other at a table and a conversation was happening one end and then the two of them just said a couple of words to each other I don’t see it being a problem?

I knew Catherine was a good one
she was one of my favourites at the beginning, but i liked her less post casa and understand why people thought she was rude -but i never hated her like most people and i always thought it was a bit much, she was hardly the worst person there, and her and scott where obviously friends after, don’t mind her now at all

For me it really depends on what your first language is, I get that if English isn’t your first language you might struggle to express yourself so well in certain situations, so I get why you’d revert to your first language. Speaking in your second language is a choice and I would assume whatever you were saying was something you didn’t want someone around you to understand. Which to me is kind of rude.

islanders have always talked about trying to communicate in way the producers don’t understand -everything is recorded 24/7 so they do it cause then it won’t be understood by them. andre and mehdi tried to speak spanish, and another islander once mentioned they where in trouble cause they kept using code words -most of the time it’s about the producers
kady just thinks everything’s about her as she’s the only one who seemed to have an issue with it

Not combatively, but a genuine question - do you speak another language? There isn’t always a direct English translation for things. Some languages are really expressive and the like for like translation doesn’t hit the same. Sometimes, because you’ve grown up hearing your parents speak their native tongue in your home, when you want to exclaim something, it just hits harder saying it that way rather than in English. As someone else has already said upthread, they started teaching other people in the villa the little Yoruba they do know, it’s less of a rudeness and derogatory thing, and more of a home comfort thing.

And has someone who has Yoruba friends but isn’t Nigerian herself, sometimes oh my god won’t do, but a YÉ hits perfectly 🤣

In the game, the pair had to answer the questions as truthfully as possible. When asked "Who was most likely to get intimate under the duvet?" by Heat World, Ella dropped a bombshell. She revealed: "This is going to be one that people don't expect, but Scott and Abi. With a smile, Mitch added: "No comment. Moving on. Very swiftly."

It’s RUDE! People can defend it because they’ve favs. But it is rude! And I’d feel uncomfortable SO I GET WHY Kady might not have liked it!

Well he is a stud 😂 I'm sure someone on here said they thought they were doing stuff under the covers when the lights were out so maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️

When I said group I didn't mean literally when they are all sitting around the firepit talking. I meant a group as in all the Love Islanders are a group of people who were stuck in a villa with no where to go.

It doesn't matter that they only said phrases. Other people who don't speak the language don't know that, they could have been saying anything. That's what makes it rude.

Doesn't matter the language they choose to speak, doesn't matter that they didn't know enough of the language themselves to have deep conversations in it. It's just rude.

Exactly! I’m also Irish and I certainly would not be conversing in Irish or even saying a couple of Irish words / phrases to a fellow Irish person in a group scenario where there are others in the group who do not know the language! Like, am I 12?! No. It is rude.

Didn’t tensions run high in the Sugababes because 2 of the 3 of them had a secret language lol. I swear to God I read that somewhere!
