I would be really flattered if someone called me an instababe.

edit to add - There are males that are instababes as well. My definition is - someone that isn’t famous but is attractive and account is majority beautiful glamorous photos of themselves.

I dunno, Gio gets flak for going through models every week. Viz, the Daily Mail comments on him, which are brutal, and general perception of him as a Lothario which has definitely curdled somewhat. Not to say that male celebs don't get more latitude, but people ultimately like romance and some sense of substance.
Here we've talked about how creepy Neil appears for poring over Love Island babes on the tour bus..

I don't know, you could argue the reporting is favourable to Gio but comments from the public not as much. I think his 'cheeky playboy' image has gone and is now perceived as just a bit of a sleeze. None of the female pros really have the fame level Gio has (other than maybe Dianne but obviously she's with Joe) so its difficult to comapre how the press would treat a single woman with a long list of boyfriends off instagram. Not really shaming Gio though, at the end of the day he's single and all of his girlfriends are age appropriate.

Janette was sniggered at for having had a relationships with Pasha before Aljaz, Jowita got no end of flak for a short dalliance with Gio as well.
I do think Gio is reaching the point where it stops being, fnar fnar, fill yer boots lad into bit grubby, even in the press but it’s taken 9 years! I really don’t think it would take that long for a female pro to attract critiscm.

To be honest I have only ever known Janette as being with Aljaz so didn't know the press had actually made a big deal about the Pasha thing! I don't think Jowita got too much stick for the Gio thing, definitely less than he did! From what I remember most people (not the die hard Rio fans, more just the general public) said she was gorgeous, but knew it wouldn't last as he never seems to make relationships last. I agree a female version of Gio would've probably attracted criticism a lot sooner than he did though.

Jowita definitely got flak, especially when the press wrongly paired her off with Arduino as well. ETA - from the dm commentators and FB Beryls who wanted Rose etc. Certainly not from us.

I agree that the comments on Karen not being able to be single for a week are a bit in this vein, whereas it is generally assumed that a 'hot-blooded male' like Gio is only following nature's way. Though Karen appears to be pathologically monogamous rather than putting it about.

With Gio it's the disconnect between what he obviously wants (short, no-strings attached flings with girls who all have the same look) and what his fans project onto him - that he'll one day be 'ready' for Rose or at the least, a nice Italian girl to be his wife. Classic madonna/bleep stuff.

Jowita got the usual treatment from the Rose and Gio shippers. She was also referred to as “Hamza Girl” rather than her name on the front page of the papers when the news about her and Gio broke 🤮
 
Meanwhile Vito is snogging all his cousins with impunity. What a slag! :oops: 🤣
