How would we feel if they signed Wayne Sleep for Strictly???

He's obviously very good at dancing - ballet and has done musicals. But HES NOT TRAINED IN BALLROOM OR LATIN 😉😉😉

And he is old.

I think it would be a step too far. But then technically so was Layton. And the show would have been the poorer without him.

I suppose, though, his profession is/was a dancer. Whereas they could announce Layton as an actor.

He’s only 5ft2. Are there any female pros small enough to partner him?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We all want someone who looks at us the way Nikita looks at Layton 🥰

 
Watching Luba on Pointless and I really like how she comes across - she never plays the dumb card and seems like a genuinely interesting person.

Exactly. Let's not put her on a par with Tryanne who has no other languages and is just thick as pig tit.
 
May sound ageist but I'm fine with old contestants as long as they are filler - usually a nostalgic name who turns up for a few weeks, does some rubbish dancing and then goes out. It somewhat placates the 'never heard of anyone' brigade and means the lesser known younger contenders can buy a bit of time to build momentum and don't go early like Dev for instance. Les Dennis & Anneka Rice both fit the 'nostalgic older duffer' role, no harm done by booking either.

Problem with Grangela is that they tried to sell the narrative that she was a contender when she just wasn't. She might have been better than others in the older age range and the leg stunt was impressive, but let's get real. They'd pull the same stuff with Wayne Sleep and I'm not interested in it.

A Diversity guy maybe for the Christmas special? Think a main series might push it too far. My rule is if Alan Dedicoat can only announce them as a 'dancer', then they are too ringery. Ashley was a singer and Layton an actor.

She came across very well! Hopefully she gets another partner this year 🤞🏻
