On another LadyLav praise moment, her politely shady response to the news of this had me in stitches- she said something along the lines of ‘it’s a very crowded marketplace but good luck to him’, which basically is her way of saying ‘this godawful tacky idea is doomed to failure’.

Random things that have amused me today … the number of people who have seemingly booked to see 42nd Street solely to see Les Dennis in the crucial role of Bert Barry. I mean the cast includes Ruthie Henshall, Adam Garcia and Michael Praed but yeah, booked tickets for Les.

Topped by Someone on DS pointing out that the understudy taking over the role when the star isn’t available is literally the plot of 42nd Street.

Sadly in the touring cast Samantha Womack seems to be cast in place of Ruthie Henshall, and Sam Lips in place of Adam Garcia, but Sam Lips was excellent in Singing in the Rain (as was Faye Tozer, who is also in 42nd Street), so even despite the slightly less stellar cast I’m baffled that anyone would book it specifically for Les Dennis. I booked it before the cast was even announced as it’s my favourite musical, so I couldn’t care less which ‘names’ are in it anyway (though I did get a bit excited about Robin of Sherwood!)

And it appears that it’s only the Friday & Saturday nights he’s not doing (before he was announced for Strictly it said he’d be missing the Thurs & Fri, seemingly for birthday shenanigans, but that’s been changed to the Fri & Sat now, so he’s seemingly ditching his birthday shenanigans - such a trouper! 😁)
 
God the fume on DS about Les Dennis and the touring production of 42nd Street... does not bode well for that forum this season!

We can only imagine the screaming matches come October when Annabel Croft wears a dress for her Viennese Waltz with 'NO 5G BILL GATES PLANDEMIC' on it and half the forum insists she's just expressing her opinion.

If Les is still around at musicals week and does a routine from 4nd Street, DS might actually implode

Katya put up and took down a story of Gorka and Vito (doing push ups) captioned 'the boys before meeting the celebs' so it looks like they might have brought back the big 'meet up' rehearsal before they're all paired

I think it’s more a group dance hooley. One of ‘em said they would be meeting the other celebs on Friday when they were revealed possibly Annabel or Ellie?

The DM also has photos of Les skiving off from his proper job leaving ticket holders devastated loitering around in training gear outside a dance studio.

Strictly Come Dancing's Les Dennis kept things casual in gym gear on Friday as was seen at show rehearsals for the first time after being revealed as the final contestant.

Lady Lav has helpfully been on the theatre websites and found out the days when Les is marked as AWOL … there a 3 day run at the beginning of September (Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th) that is very possible and then nothing after that until Saturday 23rd which is most likely first live show.
 
The launch show is recorded on the 6th September, I would guess the 4th and 5th will be for learning the group dance. So meeting partners the week before maybe?
DS is already sucking the fun out of this series and it hasn't even begun yet 🥴 I might stop reading there until the pairing spoilers come out (when Dave will declare that he, and only he, has the spoilers 😆)

I’m surprised there isnt a request for a mole/spoiler thread yet. They’re cutting it fine.

There’s also the catching the glitterball/throwing glitter/looks to camera interviews to do and the filming for the titles sequence. Wonder who will get the ‘Ho’ this year.
