I don’t think she will get a partner this year. The benched pros will be Michelle, Lauren, Luba and Neil I think.

I think she's being a bit foolish on that one, it's not like they wouldn't want her on the SCD tour and it is one of the best ways to get the viewers interested in watching her, not just the Gio fans. Putting all of her eggs in the Gio basket doesn't seem like a great idea.

I guess Gorka not doing the tour didn’t harm him in getting Helen. But he’s an established pro. I’d say it would be better for her to wait and see if she gets a decent celeb and use that to build a fan base. For all the gushing about her, she’s only really known to Anton/Gio fans atm

Established pros can afford to skip the tours, newcomers like Lauren need the exposure and you'll get more of that on the main tour or pro tour than with Giovanni. It's why I knew Cameron was toast when he wasn't signed up to either main or pro tour this year. As you say, she only currently has Anton/Gio fans.

I'm not going to lie, this move has me wondering how likely she is to move off the bench any time soon. I don't see Michelle getting a celebrity in the near future either. Given that they were both hired in the same year, it seems strange.

Would that rule her out of the pro tour as well? When Gorka, Karen and Nancy were on Lorraine the other day, I thought it was interesting that Nancy said she's been desperate to do the pro tour since she started Strictly because that's the one where they really get to showcase themselves

I get why touring with Gio is a reliable gig, but if she does get a celeb this year, she's kinda missing out on opportunities to promote herself rather than playing second fiddle
 
I guess for Lauren it’s guaranteed income and Gio tends to work with the same people who she’s friends with - so it’s a good gig for her I guess.

I think next year might be Gios last big tour - i think his recent success is all down to Rose and once that fizzles out, so will he - he is riding on Roses success.

I dunno. I guess he’s positioning himself for the Anton market but hard to know where he goes after SCD. Lauren’s chance of success, for me, is tied to making herself a top female pro on SCD - there is certainly a niche for a British woman who is more edgy than Amy.

It makes you wonder if she knows she’s not getting a celeb this year already, or at least a celeb that has Tour potential?

Gio is very ambitious and if he can’t go bigger with his tours, then he will move onto something else - a new challenge.

Im guessing the pro line up as to who gets partners will be the same as last year. I’m looking forward to the announcement of celebrities and not knowing who any of them are - prefer it that way.
 
I get that there is more cache to being a ‘leading lady’ and it probably is more money, but I think ruling herself out of the Live tour and probably the Pro tour for next year is a mistake, especially from an exposure front as previously mentioned.

It also means she isn’t available for any ‘step in’ opportunities with celebs with the live tour and kind of stops her developing her own identity away from Gio/Anton. Also Jowita and I think (?) Nancy did Pro tour from the bench and Luba/Neil do it every year.

ETA: very big of him to give her a little ‘named billing’ hidden away at the side 😆
 
Surely when they sign their contract they know whether they’re getting a celeb or not?? Its a huge difference in workload between teaching a partner potentially for three months and standing in the back on a saturday night and maybe a bit of choreography/ group number rehearsal during the week

Edit to add: Do we know if there is a different pay grade for those with a partner vs those on the bench?

I thought there was a pay difference for those with a partner and those without. May have dreamt it but with a partner thought around 50k and a benched pro around 35k.

I do wonder though in all seriousness which pro will win. Because I feel like it's only a certain set of pros who win - Giovanni, Kevin, Oti, Katya, Pasha, Aliona, Jowita - all very dynamic pros. I think like the celeb, the pro needs that bit extra to get the trophy. The only one in the past few years who didn't really fit that was Joanne Clifton, and I'll never believe that her win with Ore was 100% legit, that series felt fixed.

Quite a few of the current cast (male and female) don't really have that extra 'it' factor.

Might be funny if Jowita won again purely since two separate groups of fans would lose their sh*t.

I looked up the story and there is no source. The third favourite to win is apparently Lauren! Thus we can conclude the source is almost certainly a certain L. Lavender ringing the chronicle from a phone box in Provence!
