I was listening to Layton's 'Where there's a will there's a wake' episode and it got me thinking about how strange the Strictly 'bubble' is. You're thrown into this partnership with someone that you're potentially going to be spending 8 hours a day training with, up close and persosal, plus whatever press etc. you have to do, for potentially 13 weeks of the show (and whatever training they do beforehand). Then when it's all over it just.... stops. (Other than the tour for some).
I'm sure that's a relief to those who didn't get on well, but for those who form a genuine friendship, like Layton and Nikita, that must be REALLY strange. Sure, you can stay friends and stay in each other's lives, but it's very different from being in each other's space all day every day. And for the pros, they then have to go on and build that relationship with someone completely new the next year.
You can definitely see how relationships form between the couples. Also you must get to a stage where you’re sick of the sight of each other. If you had a partner working so closely with someone like this who was getting physically up close and personal with someone day in and day out it would be hard not to feel insecure at times.

How are people feeling about the dances tomorrow?
Annabelle (had to put her first as I forget about her otherwise) - I love a good paso, I know that Johannes will choreograph a great routine but I’m not confident she will perform it well. Her strength is in the wafty, elegant, floaty dances. Think she could be the unexpected underdog to make it all the way but I’d be happy for her to go this week.
Angela S - this could be fun. She has really grown on me and I think she has performed so much better the last couple of weeks. I adore Carlos, he is such a sweetheart. I think they are probably the most at risk but she seems to have good public support as she’s scored lower on the leaderboard and has never been in a DO.
Nigel - the days of me looking forward to his dances have passed as afterwards he just always seems to be so deflated and anxious when he gets any criticism. I’m not a huge fan of rumbas unless they are really filthy. In some of their performances he and Katya have had a really sexy are they at it vibe. I suspect his wife will be plastering a smile on her face and wanting to punch Katya and the judges may love it.
Bobby - I still feel really anxious about this dance and what the emotional cost may be. No doubt the judges will lap it up, he will get his highest score and he will top the public vote. I really do hope for his sake he bumbles through it without any big emotional investment like he appears to have done with the whole competition. He isn’t going anywhere yet even though he is by far one of the weakest dancers remaining.
Ellie - I can’t see her having the intensity required for a good AT but think she will totally prove me wrong. The song choice is weird but so was their paso and that was great. I think this will really push her out of her comfort zone and could potentially be either her wow moment or the week where she struggles. I think it will probably be the former.
Layton - I always look forward to his performances and think he can smash every one. I love a good American Smooth and hope that Nikita doesn’t go too far with trying to make it different. Sadly as lots of people have already predicted this may be the week he drops into the DO. I don’t know though as for every bigot who is ranting about him there is someone who thinks he is awesome. Could this swing the vote?
