The AT from Leyton and Nikita last week was fabulous but I do think he is that good there is nowhere to go with improvement. I’m sure this weeks CC will be another WOW moment though.

Eh. I don’t need him to improve. I just want to watch some incredible dances 😄 That being said, I actually think Layton *has* really improved. Not so much in the general ability to dance, he’s a fantastic dancer. But he’s full of quite frantic, jazz hands energy & very much over performs. The difference in him from the first couple weeks to now is quite noticeable in my opinion. I am a bit worried this CC is going to be a bit wild .. Nikita is exuberant to say the least this season, sometimes more so than Layton! I recon he’s chucked it kitchen sink at this dance!

I agree. The Layton from Week 1 could never have danced with the intense emotion he danced with on Saturday. I’ve gone from being entertained watching him dance to really feeling something watching him dance.

Nikita is going to go big for Blackpool. He will keep pushing Layton as he knows they work so well together.

Kind of off topic but I was listening to Radio 2 this afternoon and Vernon was on talking about his ultramarathon for Children in Need and Tess called in. She was literally a different person! Highly accented, sweet, emotional, all stumbly and not at all like Tessbot.

She was like that when she was on Claudia’s radio show once. You honestly wouldn’t have known it was her, she was lovely.

SAME.... I was shook!
I genuinely thought if she spoke like this on SCD her voice wouldn't grate on me at all.
She clearly has a Tess voice & a Tessbot work voice.

I'm sure Nikita wouldn't put himself at any more risk than necessary and knows how to manage an injury. It's his career at stake. Fair play to them not making a thing of it.

I wouldn't be at all sure of that, dancers can be stubborn idiots.

I remember Gorka kept dancing on the pro tour last year despite his chronic back injury flaring up, and didn't pull out until it got so bad he could barely walk.

And several seasons back on the American one, Sharna partially tore a ligament in her knee during a dress rehearsal but still did the two dances that night, despite being told she was at risk of needing a second knee reconstruction if she injured it further.

Athletes are nutters. Remember that display of sheer idiocy (sorry, brave sportsmanship ) at the Rio, I think, Olympics where a runner tore her ACL halfway through a race but still decided to hobble to the finish line? I would have thought minimising the potentially career-ending injury would be a sane person's priority, not intentionally making it worse just so you could say you didn't give up, but clearly not in the minds of uber competitive athletes.

Just the other day, I was shaking my head in disbelief at an IG story one of the American pros posted about being really proud of her mother for completing a marathon even though she was really sick. Nutters.

Anyway, I hope Nikita's smarter than that and not taking unnecessary risks.

I'm new to Strictly this year, but even for a newbie my brain is clearly not firing on all cylinders - yesterday I realised that Motsi and Oti are sisters, and tonight I finally realised that the Tower Ballroom is literally up the Blackpool Tower and not just a normal ballroom at ground level that happens to be named after the local landmark 😂 am I ok?!!

We all have to forgive ourselves for not knowing what we didn't know ! It sounds cheesy but it's true ! Don't be so hard on yourself
