The teeth are bleeping woeful! And the smile lines - how is this man not 55?!
He's doing the "ram your tongue up against your teeth for the photo" thing too. I can't remember what it's supposed to achieve but I'm pretty sure it's not working. Giovanni levels of ick tbh, verging on CFP if he's not careful.
 
Someone on DS suggesting that Shirley is in negotiations for more money.

I don't condone anyone who trolls her about judging or whatever, however I will absolutely not stand for her getting more money when her increase in money comes out of a licence fee which people are bullied into paying for when they struggle to heat their bloody homes. Not to mention that the pros and everyone behind the scenes are the real talent who work extremely hard in keeping the show going. Why are the BBC allowing this, a judge sits and gives scores, they are easily replaceable?

Queen of Latin or not, ultimatums need to be made. And if it's "give me more money or I leave" then see ya later.

I guess it's possible she's still in negotiations (for this long though? The BBC only has a certain amount of cash), but I reckon it's all done and dusted and she'll be back - I think generating all this speculation about it is just a publicity plan to get more press for her book
 
Yeah it must be done and dusted by now. I am sure the narrative of 'I might not come back' -> 'I'm in negotiations (oh and here's my *shudder* 'saucy' novel)' is part of her general promo. (sidenote: the only think worse than Shirley's saucy novel is, presumably, Anton's).

Also: Anton's pranks on tour sound as bad as CFP's, in Shirley's telling:

"Anton came to my dressing room and I had my big girl Marks & Spencer knickers out. The next thing I know, we're on set and he pulled them out of his top pocket and started to wipe his head with them… good job they were clean, eh?!"
 
i have the same problem with Anton’s “humour” as I always did with Bruce … there always seems to be an element of demeaning underlying the “funny”.

That’s the problem to me … it’s that Rose doesn’t seem to be able to ‘be’ in her own right, just as this idealised construct who will Make Gio Happy because She Is Perfect For Him (I assume this means taking the double breasted to the dry cleaners, ironing his roll neck sweaters and having his tea on the table (made to nonna’s recipe) when he comes home). It’s the same mindset that had The Sun proclaiming Jowita as “Hamza Girl” in its headline and it winds me up no end :D :cool:

She has an absolute cheek if she’s after more money. She does absolutely duck all from Monday - Friday, all the judges do is come in on the night and sit at a desk for a couple of hours. If anyone deserves more money it’s the pros, who not only have to teach someone how to dance but also have to choreograph, learn/perform pro dances & also support their celeb.

That's a bit ...er ... weird.

Shirley is very handsomely rewarded indeed for her head judge role.
And half the time she lets herself down, imo, snarking at someone, usually one of the women (Fleur - especially at the beginning) and smarming over one or more of the men, (Will - although she went off him).

When she tells them what she wants to see and explains her points (with or without the little creepy shoes 😁) I find that interesting as someone who knows very little about dancing. It's a pity she doesn't do that consistently.

To be fair to Shirley that a heck of a lot of supposition based on not a lot of fact :D

I’m still waiting for someone to question how Anton can judge Gio as they are ‘such good friends’ outside of Strictly ‘cos sure as eggs, if any of the female judges had gone on a road trip with one of the pro dancers there would be calls to at least bring in a substitute-judge to mark them to make if fair.
(I have no problem with it … Anton’s marking is a mystery at the best of times. It’s just the double standards of Motsi not being able to so much as make eye contact with Oti or Shirley apparently favouring Kevin-from-Grimsby because she used to teach him when Len wore his prejudices on his sleeve and Anton goes skipping off into sunset with Gio without a murmer).

Apparently the DTWS line-up is fixed for next year.

Some of the pros have been rehearsing for the tour - Dianne, Karen, Luba, Nancy, Carlos.. Jowita is back in Poland, and Gorka is in Spain. I'd not be surprised if Vito is back at his folks too. Perhaps they cluster the rehearsals as presumably there are numbers some are in but not others..

Quoting myself to add: Vito is in London and going to Easter mass! He seems to be aiming for various career possibilities: Countryfile, MasterChef, Songs of Praise...

On Steph's Packed Lunch last year, she was adamant she wouldn't do Strictly, but if she did, she said she'd like Neil as a partner 😬. Presumably so they could do lots of hugely entertaining and not at all annoying 'comedy' routines

In other news, apparently Strictly are considering Ade Adepitan for their wheelchair dancing celeb. On the one hand, all this sounds v plausible and makes sense. But on the other hand, a lot of the 'source' stuff in the article sounds suspiciously like discussions on here and DS about male celebs being able to do lifts, the advantages of booking a Paralympian etc

(I now assume they get all Strictly stories from here 🤪😆)

Strictly bosses are lining up a Paralympic basketball player to be the first wheelchair user to appear on the show.

He’d be the first slightly older disabled contestant, all prior ones have been 20s/early 30s.

If they do have a male celeb in a wheelchair, my money would definitely be on Katya. She wouldn't play it safe, and I think that's what's needed to make it work
