I’d be delighted with an Ellie/Nigel/Layton final - if Amanda’s withdrawal keeps Bobby from securing a place in the final then so much the better.

Ideally we need a late-stage Layton/Bobby dance off with Layton going through - Nigel needs to avoid the DO at all costs as I don’t think he’s guaranteed to beat anyone given his apparent tendency towards mistakes 🫤
I think if the reaction to criticism of Nigel here and elsewhere is any guide, he is in no danger of being in the dance off at any point.

I’d be surprised if Layton wasn’t in the final. I think he’ll hit a dance off for sure but if the judges judge on dancing alone, he’s better than anyone in the competition. Wasn’t Ashley Robers in a lot of dance offs? I can see Layton having that trajectory soon!

i can see layton having the exact same “journey” on this show as ashley tbh. consistently the best dancer, but starting to end up in the dance off from the midway point onwards. will reach the final, but both he and nikita know he won’t win (though, as a “dance competition” he should) and so they’ll just have a great time in the final instead. still love that ashley and pasha picked a number where they were dressed as smurfs for their final dance.

This comment under Nigel’s dance on the Strictly IG this morning is lovely and says a lot about the sort of person he is.

It was one arm movement where he put it up rather than down but that was it. No one even commented on his moonwalk!

Well I did see it eventually, only by listening to Nigel's comments about the arm movement, with the 'put something on the shelf'. It really wasn't something that ruined the dance, it was minute in that section of the choreo.

His moonwalk was excellent, the head nods absolutely captured the essence of the 'zombie' dance. There was so much stand out why they picked out the negative and be so nasty about it is beyond me.

I quite like Gio, but I totally believe the reports about him not gelling with the new dancers (bar Kai and Lauren who he already knew), it looked like he was trying to engage with Nikita at the beginning of the show, and Nikita started dancing with the person to Gio's right instead, and then I saw he's left a comment on Carlos's Instagram this morning.

Gio's face when Vito and Ellie came up the stairs and everyone was smiling and congratulating them. A couple of polite claps and a face like the Babadook.
Mind you, by then he'd probably got wind that there were various hit pieces coming out about him. (I see Amanda has posted about Matthew Perry dying ( ) and saying how you don't know what is going on with people. Ranvir, Georgia, and Laura have all responded with a heart).

Amanda, Laura, Ranvir and Georgia … that’s a night out with cocktails to be a fly on the wall for.

(I do like the way that Georgia apparently ‘got on’ with Gio because they fell in love and she must be over the fact he dumped her from a great height with no notice because she has married someone else so can’t have a bad word to say about him. They obvious have never met anyone like my friend who 40 years later is still able to curl a lip and snark ‘tosser’ about the lad who dumped her at 19 for ‘her with the tits’).

Oof, that's not going to help! 😅 he even looks like he's angling to get in shot.

Looking forward to seeing the next stop on the Gio Redemption Tour.

Throw Richie into the mix too.;)

I see Lavvy is absolutely fuming at a hit piece that’s been written about Fanny Rat. If I was the journo that wrote it I’d be steering clear of women with blue rinses and orthopaedic sandals for the foreseeable.
She is raging!

There are so many errors and omissions it's hard to believe Marianka wrote it. Very disappointing and shows no research at all. She's interviewed Gio for dance magazines in the past, so why is she quoting 'Heat' as a source, for goodness sake.

Gio's friendly with Michelle Visage to this day, he was Michelle's plus one at an awards ceremony just a few weeks ago. Same with Ranvir, he's been booked regularly on GMB / Lorraine when Ranvir's presenting. Ranvir was able to keep her new relationship with a member of Strictly's production team under wraps for a year in part because Gio was totally discreet about it. So Marianka's take is odd and seemingly coming apparently from nowhere.

Presumably she's quoting Heat because that's who he gave the interview to where he boasted about having sex 200 times a week or whatever it was!
He and Ranvir have not interacted since he took up with Maura! And what about Georgia, Laura and Richie?

Another Fanny Fan: won't someone think of the perfume?

Feel so bad for Gio not only has this affected his strictly this year it's also caused him to postpone his fragrance launch which he was so excited about.

The spectre at the feast - appropriate for Halloween, I suppose.

I only caught the second half of Strictly last night. As happens so often, I wondered if I was watching a different show than the judges.

Angie R’s Charleston was just ok - and with obvious mistakes- but you’d think she’d put on the performance of a lifetime going by the judges’ comments and scores.

The best thing about it was Kai’s comedy tache.

Poor Nigel. I really enjoyed his dance and the characterisation. Katya’s an amazing choreographer.

Overall, confused by the judges. They must have had their meds changed last night

Ohhh I had no idea about Matthew Perry 😢😢😢

Some belated thoughts from last night:

- A lot of the dances felt underwhelming and boring, especially after some of the triumphs last week.

- Zara seems to be trying but the lack of energy in her movements and the fact she seemed to just be clomping around at times means she'll hopefully be the next to leave - she seems like a lovely girl but not a good enough dancer.

- Krishnan without his glasses and with his mouth clamped shut and his wig looked like Paul Sinha 😂

- After Layton and Nikita's dance my husband shouted through from the other room "was it any good?" and I replied with "I'm not sure - I really enjoyed it but that might just be because it was incredibly homoerotic" 🤣🥵💀

- Seeing Bobby's tackle swinging in the breeze made me feel unwell 🤢

- Nigel's dance was great, despite him looking a little hesitant at times, and I was really impressed. The way the judges beat him down rather than trying to offer a balance of goods and "could improves" reminds me a little bit of an emotionally abusive relationship or when you're getting bullied by a manager - if your faults are consistently pointed out without balance or nurturing you become nervous and more prone to make mistakes, which the person then uses against you in an "I told you that you weren't any good" way 😢 I felt so sad for him, he should have been praised for everything he achieved with notes about the mistakes as a reason for knocking a point off, not being heavily criticised under the guise of doing it for his own good.

- At one point in the clauditorium I spotted Gio pull Nikita in front of him and then try to sidle out of shot as though he didn't want to be seen on camera 🤔

- I'm really impressed with Ellie and thought her dance was great (and I felt a bit emotional at them getting 10s 😂) - her character in Corrie was so whingy and low energy that I've been really surprised by how bubbly and energetic she is!

And finally - I had to keep pausing the show to deal with my baby, and at one point accidentally paused on this 😂

Thank you yet again for the entertainment of these threads! I've decided to avoid results spoilers this week so look forward to seeing all the reactions after tonight's show!

So true.
I'm not a dancer and tbh, unless someone fell over I probably wouldn't notice a mistake anyway but there's almost glee especially on the part of Shirley when giving Nigel negative feedback.
