Why do Vicky Gill's sketches look amazing, but then the finished product look so tacky?

The colours and fabrics look really cheap.

The Strictly budget has been blown on all the good stuff the producers are drinking and smoking when they come up with their ideas.

"Yep, an American Smooth to er... whatever, I dunno, Sex Bomb. Who cares? Roll me another one, Sam."

I am giggling; this is so, so Gilkison. Imagining sheets waving in the wind (machine) as Vito and Nikita try desperately to emote while in view of an unobstructed camera 😂
---

Vito has such a chaotic energy this year (or maybe I just missed it last year) but it's fun!
Vito's always been chaotic, did you see him rolly-wheel himself into a mirror last Halloween? 😂

After seeing what Eddie said about Nigel being injured just before the show it would explain why the performance looked worse than it did in rehearsals.

Hope he can get through the Salsa ok and deliver a performance like he did in the Week 1.
Yeah i really loved Eddie speaking up for Nigel in the way that he did and had no idea they we're room mates either !
Must really help to not be stuck alone in hotel rooms after long training days I guess it must be flat share situations for them who can't go home in the week then.

Has anyone seen poor Nikita now has her foot strapped up in a boot? She must have been really hurting doing that jive!
I like Nikita, but an injury from lack of energy and walking around? 😆

I'm putting my hands up, Manrara is on the right path to being a bonafide presenter- she was really good yesterday!!
And there were "LOL!" moments, Angela's green dress!! , better reaction that Ellie Simmond's ' stripes'

I agree, I thought she’s been v good this week. Maybe when she was on with rylan her inexperience showed, now she’s the one with more experience and fleur is the one struggling. Find her eps v hard to watch

I beg to differ - her refusal/inability to deviate from her 'interview plan', most noticeably with Krishnan and Lauren, when she kept interrupting their answers to say 'we'll come to that later' apparently in order to ask her pre-planned questions in the order she wanted to dictate, was a prime example of rank amateur interview technique. It resulted in a stop/start interview, which effectively stopped Lauren speaking at one point, and was only saved by the engaging professionalism of Krishnan, who politely accepted interruption and was able to hold his contribution until allowed by Janette to get to it. Decent interviewers have a plan for the points they want to cover, but listen to answers and go with the flow to allow the interviewees the floor. Janette is controlling and unable to improvise - a really poor interviewer and not getting any better.

Janette is good on tour where she really just needs to say a few scripted intros and bring some energy to the arena. ITT is harder because she doesn't have the wit or spontaneity needed for interviews. If it were her & Fleur doing the main show, you'd for sure put her in the Tess role just reading the autocue and have Fleur in the Clauditorium with the celebs.

I think Janette is better at the presenting and Fleur is better at the interviews.
They are both pretty amateurish but Fleur is much more promising. She has much better listening skills in interview and gives the appearance of being more adaptable and spontaneous. She needs to be weaned off the little cue cards but as she develops confidence she'll do fine.

I agree with this. I wouldn't employ her at all one the main show but I thought she was very effective on the tour. Not least because shouting at the top of your voice is perfectly acceptable in a huge arena, all the lines are scripted and, of course, she can blend into some of the dance routines perfectly.

Exactly - I really like watching Fleur do the interviews. She lets people speak, listens and is able to adapt her tone to what's being said - probably because she has listened. Janette, on the other hand - she talks over people, cuts them off and seems to be concentrating on racing through the questions rather than hearing what her guests are saying.

Janette's interviews remind me of a uni project years ago which involved interviewing, I had things I wanted to ask but tried to keep it a flowing and somewhat spontaneous conversation whilst when it was the turn of my teammates to interview, they were just rigidly asking questions in a monotone voice with no engagement whatsoever. That's Janette, more focused on the question than the engagement (albeit with more of a smile than those folk).

Perfect description. I think that's why I always get the sense she's never quite present during interviews.
