The 'I'm so shy and bashful' routine while gushing over other people to get the 'oh isn't he so polite. What a credit to his family' comments.
If it seemed genuine I would really like him. But I just don't buy it.

i think i’m being irrational towards him because i know a young female contestant would be dragged over the coals for exactly the schtick he’s pulling and it annoys me

Les is lovely. In a way I'm pleased he is out as when I like someone I fret about them every week. Once they are gone I'm sad but can relax. Like wee Matt Goss.
