Do we think that Gio is actually a bit homophobic and was pissed off at having to dance with a man? I don’t know how you’d last five minutes in the ballroom world being a homophobe to be honest but maybe he’s just hidden it well? Karen and Katya didn’t seem to mind being paired with women.
 
I hope Fleur brings a sense of silliness and fun to the samba that I felt was lacking the first time around. Really excited to see Molly's quickstep again, it's one of my most rewatched dances of the series.

Find the Helen or Hamza conversation too depressing because I suspect I already know the outcome and I suspect I know why.

I don't think so - he wanted to dance with a man. I think what happened is he wanted a John and Jojo experience with a handsome skilled dancer who would make him look good and rocket him to the final again.

I do think Gio is a bit of a tit but I don’t think he’s remotely homophobic. I think he looked at Johannes and John and envisioned a similar partnership. Then he got Richie, who is a completely different character than John and didn’t know what to do with him, had a flounce and gave up.

this all day. when he realised he didn't have john 2.0, he just stopped putting the effort in and richie deserved better than that

Agree on that - he wanted to dance with a man as long as they were the right personality and really gave him something to work with. But surely he'd have expected a non contender after winning. I wonder how he'd have treated Kaye if he had her instead.

I agree. I dontthink he's homophobic. I think he requested a male partner, but Richie was just a bit too much I think. Slowly not that good a dancer, with not much of a fanbase and a bit of a Superfan. I think it was a bit too soon to have him on Strictly and Zoe Ball egged him on.
