I wondered this, but I think it might be because it's a play on Come Dancing, which was a UK show. So nowhere else would "get it".
It’s the worlds stupidest tv show name. But I recall this began after the Strictly Ballroom was a smash hit and brought ballroom dancing to the fore and we had Come Dancing in the UK.
Dancing with the stars makes more sense, but we wouldn’t be quirky old Britain without an objectively strange show name - strictly…. It’s odd. But it’s ours.

You know, you could tell me Neil Jones was studying for a PhD in particle physics at Cambridge, owned the worlds' 4th largest collection of vintage baked bean tins, lived in a sustainable yurt alongside an alpaca called Freddy in the New Forest when not doing Strictly, and is the son of a Brazilian oil tycoon and a street-sweeper from Marseilles...

...and I'd just be like "Yeah, that sounds plausible for Neil Jones"

As much as I roll my eyes at Neil I rather like this about him, I like it when dancers have other interests outside of dance. Katya is similar in having lots of interests too, I can see why they worked together.
