I feel really torn with my voting - I feel like Fleur badly needs the support this week but I'm worried about Hamza if he doesn't dance well.

I feel like Hamza has enough support from the public to get through even if he doesn’t dance great, but I still have high hopes for his ccc. It can be dangerous throwing your votes elsewhere though because if too many people do that assuming Hamza is safe then he could be in trouble.

I’ve seen loads of people saying they think she’s too cocky, just the usual treatment that the talented female dancers get on the show tbh. If you have confidence then you’re disliked for being too up yourself, yet if you are shy then you get called boring so they can’t win

I actually like Fleur - didn't really know anything about her before the show and while her energy when dancing is a lot, you can't say she isn't giving it her all. She has one of the best partnerships with Vito.

I suspect it's the audience disliking a confident black woman again.

It is strange isn't it how sometimes someone just doesn't connect with the public? She seems a perfectly pleasant individual and quite a good dancer.
Is she 'too' confident? Confident women are often disliked which is awful.
I'm not a Kym fan really but she is doing so well, quietly plugging away and getting on with it. I think she might be the dark horse of this competition.

I think it is a tough group, as one of the duffers who would be expected to go early - Tony - turned out to be a cult fave/improver. Then in the middlers, several have a stronger vote: Ellie S. (inspirational story/Nikita's popularity), Ellie T (likeable/Johannes), Kym (I guess improving more than others), Molly (better dancer so higher up generally, though not sure how strong her vote is).
I wasn't that aware of Fleur before the competition but she has done 2-3 other reality shows so I guess she may feel overexposed.. plus suffered from high expectations and not being as good as people think... I would add new pro to that, but I've seen a lot of comments that people prefer Vito to her!
(I think she also suffered a bit from horrible theming the last two weeks.. and while a nice ballroom will be a pleasant change, it's probably not exciting enough to save her. If she scrapes through this week she might get an opp to do eg a rumba which could wow)

I think it’s more that there are 4+ celebs battling for the same votes all virtually clumped together on judges scores. Molly gained more last week … coming off dance off, poor mark form Craig. Excluding Hamza, Tony I’d imagine has more public votes than the rest added together and it means there are less to go round. one of the Ellie’s might be tested this week as well

I don't agree with that, AJ did magnificently last year. Judi Love was awesome. It comes to personality (and sometimes dance skills) not racism.

I'd love to agree with the last bit fully and do to some extent, but you only have to look at some of the comments about Fleur on social media to see that some people definitely are racist.

I think Fleur has a different energy to AJ and Judy - unapologetic confidence, more like Alexandra Burke or Maisie.

Yeah, of course not all (or nowhere near all) the people who dislike Fleur are racist, but some racists definitely dislike her!

It is also telling that Molly doesn't get the same treatment - apart from having a quieter personality it was clear when she did Maria from West Side Story that loads have people have no idea she's black! Must be the blonde hair.. people think she just massively overdoes the fake tan!

I think as well, the women celebs are expected to be able to dance, whatever area they come from - probably sportswomen are the only ones cut a bit of slack there - and women from the performing arts have that expectation squared.

That might be the case when it comes to votes, but outwith of that i’m still seeing thousands of people every single week be absolutely vile towards Fleur purely for existing. It’s really sad that so many people can’t handle a confident young woman.

Agree with this. She’s in the middle of the pack along with the likes of Helen (sob story but being stoic), Will (popular actor that’s been about for years) and Hamza (unexpectedly good dancer and human sunshine).

I also hate myself for saying this but I feel like she may have faired better if she’d been partnered with Kai or Gio; popular pros who ‘get’ strictly and could’ve probably taken her dancing to the next level which she needs in lieu of a big fanbase or interesting backstory.

i fell foul of that with both nancy d’elio and jerry hall both tall and elegant looking women, until they danced. completely agree that women are expected to have natural grace, and i think a lot of us are guilty of that assumption too!

the relationship that strictly voters have with female contestants is really complex imo. it takes a very particular type of woman to win this show and looking back it’s amazing that kara did. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve seen a “oh i just don’t like her, there’s something about her” aimed at a female contestant whereas men can (for the most part) sail on through. if tony was a woman would she get all of the “go on toni! she’s giving it her best shot!” comments that he’s getting? it’s very strange and rooted in something i can’t quite put my finger on

True. I remember some people were moaning about her voice and how loud she is but apart from that I didn’t see anything negative about her at all which is rare.

I think possibly her and Molly are aiming at the same group of fans and the vote is therefore is split. Both are young attractive females.

I'm not keen on Fleur in the same way I wasn't keen on Karim and Rhys - their dancing seems frantic and not polished. Although to be fair to Rhys, I blamed Nancy for not teaching him properly. This time I'm blaming Vito for not teaching Fleur properly.

The person I'm most impressed with is Kym. Couldn't stand her in Corrie and wasn't that impressed she was on the show. But she's really improved and does good dances.

But honestly, this year just hasn't caught fire for me. I was gutted I didn't tickets for the live tour this year. But I'm not really bothered that I've not got tickets for the next tour.

I would only really be going cos me and the old dear love Anton (but we've got tickets for his one man show and for him and Giovanni)

I know this is said regularly, but they really need to improve their casting next year.

There will be some racist/fatist/ableist/sexist trolls on social, but i cant believe most of them would watch the show really and vote or not vote.

Surely Maisie shows it comes back to personality though?
I didn't warm to Maisie, she had a determined attitude and was a great dancer but didn’t show fun or warmth.

Whingey Will is trying to fake being a human but he just wants to win, (even in the funny Art VT he wasn't happy with his painting ).
