I missed last week so I’m looking forward to tonight but it feels like the ballroom dances could be a bit boring? Although, Fleur is living my childhood dream of dressing up as Ariel and dancing to that song 😭.

I think they struggle finding a good balance of ballroom and Latin at times. I wish couples did one of each every week where possible.

Yeah, I don't get it tbh. Didn't know who she was before Strictly, still don't know and honestly not invested in her to find out. Are we just meant to feel sorry for her because of her horrible ex?
To be fair, she is the sort of celeb that will do well regardless of having a horrible ex.
She has featured heavily on wish lists since Strictly started and when she did the Christmas Special there was general excitement she might do a full series.
she was on Blue Peter for 5 years, doing the adventuring stunts and then went to Countryfile where she’s been for 8 years or so… so that’s twice a week for kids teatime viewing segueing into Sunday early evening viewing with about 6 million viewers (Think Matt Baker).

The horrible ex is another facet, but she’d have done well even without that.

I’m not really a fan of the themed weeks apart from Halloween. They just seem to be weeks to showcase the wardrobe & make up departments. Also favours the celebrities with acting experience more.
I quite like Musical Week if they pick a dancey musical, because then it works. But forcing a movie theme can be very hard.

Spooky week I hate because it's tragic, and every couple of years includes a Thriller routine. I imagine I'd be like Dan Walker on Spooky week, just nope out of it.

I'd want to do Musical Week to Moulin Rouge! 'Backstage Romance', such a great song for a really intense Latin dance, AT or something like that.

Up until seeing moulin rouge my Strictly dream included doing Mamma Mia for Musical Week because I think Voulez-Vous would be a crowd pleaser. Now I just want to do that for Movie Week, but also maybe do Dancing Queen.

There’s really no excuse for movie week not to be great given that there’s literally thousands upon thousands of amazing songs from films. Yet somehow we end up with a Jurassic Park themed rumba 🫠

And endless, endless Disney tie-ins. I know Disney have a great back catalogue of songs, but could we not get something from the heyday of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, or the great MGM Musicals, or go entertainingly off-piste with The Producers or the Blues Brothers? (I suppose the rights to a lot of these things are either staggeringly expensive, or so tangled after 80 years that it's hard to get in the week or so timescale the show has)

Or even use classical music, where the rights have expired! You could do something very entertaining to a remixed version of one of Mozarts' pieces from Amadeus.

I never really like the themed weeks (Halloween used to be an exception before they started cheaping out on the costumes) however tonight's Movie Week looks promising from those clips!
Matt, Kym, Tyler (sorry) and Amy+partner (forgot his name which bodes well) will probably be snack/loo breaks 😁

I wouldn't be surprised by any of the pros hanging on for another few years. We saw what happened during Covid with touring shows being cancelled. That could happen again. Not to mention the economic turmoil we're in and general instability from the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

Strictly is a nice regular earner for them, BBC primetime and enhances their personal profile (social media, mainstream media e.g. appearances on other TV shows, raising their profile for their own touring productions). How many other income streams does Gorka (for example) have? Does Gemma work? I don't keep up with her.

AJ Pritchard quit before Covid and hasn't had the greatest career since. He's doing the rounds of the reality shows and has a failed career as a social media personality. I don't think he was enamoured by Strictly behind the scenes however he left at precisely the wrong time and failed to capitalise. He's still young, he could've stayed a few more years and been paired with good partners seeing as he was the youngest (and looks like a teenager!).

These babies will get me in the mood!
