"We're not professionals!"

He appeared too defensive. Yeah, I get he was disappointed - but not sure it was with himself or just that the dance didn't go over anywhere near as well as the jive and he came off as a bit hostile.

I remember he’s been like that in other stuff like Fame Academy. Not a crime and I like him but it puts you off a bit

Honestly this is why it’s best not to grossly over mark in Wk1. It was good but when Ashley Roberts didn’t score above 30 and Danny only got 31. Wills jive quite clearly wasn’t worth 34. He came back down with a massive thud and he clearly wasn’t expecting to be marked as such.

Honestly, does this fanny insist on being carried everywhere?

I looked at James' instagram and saw his wife is a mummy influencer or whatever - talking about 'honest motherhood' with her perfect boys, beachy waves, and fabulous house. So that is him on my 'can go' list.
🤢

Didn't even know the guy until watching this series, but reading that's made me go off him already. Influencers are bad enough, but the worst ones are the 'family' ones. I get the same insufferably icky vibes from them as I do 'mummagers'.

Unless something went wrong for Kaye and Kai and/or Matt really nailed it, I’m shocked. On the dances last night I think Matt should definitely have gone.
It must have! The person eliminated was better than their competitor both last week and last night.

There's been a few huffs from people not used to critique, puts me clean off them. That's why I am so disappointed in the result, the person gone is what the show should be about.

Yeah. That was okay. He's a bit too short and squat for me and I often don't like his hair, especially this series.

It's like Non-Gorka Anonymous in here

I can also come out as not fancying him, haha. All of what you said, plus he looks like a generic cyborg. I'll give him credit, though, for looking slightly better as he ages [there are some people who improve with age and others that are the reverse], but still does nothing for me.

Then again, I don't fancy any of the pros myself, so I'm 'weird' according to some IRL Strictly fans I know (who are at least 25 years old and should know better than to label anything that differs from their opinion as 'weird'...)

I don’t fancy him either. I can appreciate a good looking guy, he works hard to get to the shape he’s in and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. But he’s short and, while this will say a lot more about me than it does Gemma, I couldn’t go out with a guy who was shorter than me, or the same size when I’m shoeless.

I donned a black armband when Pasha left and it’s still there 😩. I don’t fancy any of the pros or celebs this year 🤷🏻‍♀️

That put me off him a bit - he was much better last week (but still a smidge overmarked imho) and the “sorry I was so rubbish” to his daughter and “it’s live TV, this is what happens” - mate, you had a week 2 salsa, just be grateful you got it out the way early!

I agree.
It felt like a case of okay 'let it goooooo' when he apologised to the daughter. 🙄
Honestly if someone fell over, their comments afterwards would hardly be as self-deprecating as his were.

Shirley was embarrassing herself over him, of course, as she does on a regular basis with the male competitors.
I do wish the marks started out a bit lower in general, it would be more realistic, imo.
