So now the we know all the pros for this series, who do we think is going to get benched, and who might get a decent celeb?

I think Neil and Graziano will get partners, but tbh, unless they do something spectacular this year, I think they might be on borrowed time. Will be interesting to see how Graziano and Kai compare as they are a similar age and height. And I guess there's a possibility Neil might become the new Anton 😬

I hope Nancy gets a chance with a partner, but I wonder whether they brought Jowita in because they have a very short male celeb lined up who would have been partnered with Janette

I feel a bit sorry for Jowita’s husband that they took on three males and he wasn’t one of them 😬

I think Nancy is quite short but maybe there’s more than one shorter male on the books.

I thought Neil would be the Resident Duffer Pro in Anton’s absence but someone thought it might be Aljaz (sorry I can’t remember who said it). I think Aljaz has the right temperament to be patient and see it for what it is. Idk, Neil didn’t blow me away when he was paired with Alex

Personally this year I'd bench Alijaz and Neil and also Amy (to save my ears) and Karen. But I reckon they'll probably just rest the new guys. I really hope Nancy and Graziano get a partner this time as I feel he deserves another chance and I'd love to what Nancy can do. She also seems batshit crazy so could be fun. I do think they'll give the Anton partner to Johannes although after his hostage situation last year, he deserves a ringer this year. And of course Oti will be given whoever she asks for. I know she's got a great agent but I'm bored to see her everywhere now
 
I think that Jowita & Kai are guaranteed partners - the former for height and the latter because he'd be wasted on the bench, why bring on a 2-time finalist from the same show abroad and bench him?

At risk of sounding shallow, I can see Nikita getting a celeb purely because they may want to promote their new good looking Eastern European guy, he has an appeal looks wise which I think will make people like him.

Cameron seems most likely of the newbies to be benched, maybe just for a year to get some seasoning but I'd like if he got a celeb as well to see what he could do.

Yeah, I think that's a good point about Aljaz. He hasn't really done much wow choreography in a few years, but all his celebs seem to have a nice time on the show, so an older partner would suit him

I'd say Aljaž is most likely to take on Anton's role - he's a past winner (whereas someone like Giovanni is probably still trying to get his win) and can do nice ballroom so an older celeb will have a good time with him. I don't think his choreo can cut it with a contender any more, he started off well but Gorka & Giovanni both kinda blew him out of the water with their choreo when they joined.

I agree about Nancy - I just have a feeling she will be great value on the show and very entertaining. With Karen, I just hope she doesn't get the 'comedy' partner for a third year in a row

Apart from Jeremy Vine, has Karen ever had a duffer? If not it should be her turn. I just hope she never gets a cha cha as alongside Janette, they always seem to choreograph a really awful routine. It's also Oti's turn for a duffer but I suspect her interview about this year being her last, which she's now denying, was to counteract that. I just want Johannes to do well and get to the final this year

Cameron - middler (since he's new)
Giovanni - duffer (his turn, maybe someone a bit younger that isn't that good)
Gorka - journey celeb (had 2 ringers and a duffer recently so someone who improves, maybe an athlete?)
Johannes - ringer (due a longer run and deserves a reward for last year)
Kai - contender (new to SCD but experienced enough from DWTS Ireland to handle a contender)
Neil - comedy celeb (surprisingly subdued with Alex, let him get someone who is a bit more entertaining)
Nikita - middler (ditto Cameron)

Amy - duffer (ideally first out to avoid the squealing)
Dianne - fun middler (needs someone fun and a longer run)
Jowita - middler (ditto the other newbies)
Karen - middler (had enough duds but I just can't see her with a proper ringer)

I'd love Karen to get another Charles, because she's such a beautiful dancer to watch, but I agree, some of her choreography is a bit ropey. Although her Blackpool samba with Charles is one of my favourite routines!
 
Karen did nail the Samba with Charles but that's really her main standout of the main 10 dances in 9 series, her specialty has really always been the fun stuff hence why basically all of her celebs are good at Charleston and Couple's Choice. I'm not quite sure if that's enough for a Danny Mac or Karim type in a 13 week series.

I think this is probably fair. I suppose benching will be dependent on the celebs. Peter crouch is a rumour so the tallest out of nadiya and Luba would be with him because of how tall he is. I can potentially see Giovanni getting the Kevin story this year (just minus the shagging his dance partner) if not this year it will be next.

As for Jowitas partner Michael I wonder if we’ll see him join next year or so. I’ve a feeling Aljaz (and Gi of he got his win) could leave which might leave space for him. (We’re assuming he wasn’t already asked and he turned it down but I doubt you would). I think a few more might leave after this year and potentially make 2022 their last.

Completely agree about Gorka - if they have a sportswoman or retired sportswoman in his height range, then they'd be mad not to partner them. From his insta, he's incredibly disciplined with his fitness and crossfit training, so would be a good match with someone sporty. Either that, or an older contestant (hopefully more Debbie McGee than Ann Widdecombe though)

Giovanni hasn't had a partner under 40 since 2016, so surely a younger person must be on the cards for him this year

I'm not sure about Michael, I thought that he'd join with Jowita. The fact that he didn't when there were 3 male pro spots vacant makes me think that he won't be a pro in the near future. I've noticed that they haven't hired many couples as pros recently, there may be some reasons behind that (when 2 pros come as a package, it makes it quite difficult if they want to replace one of them, plus the publicity around the Neil/Katya and Karen/Kevin splits).
