Steve Allen is just a gammon isn’t he? It never fails to amaze me how some of the ruddy faced middle aged men feel it’s acceptable to attack very young women. You see it all the time wifh Greta Thunberg, the vitriol is off the scale. Obviously some misplaced anger there. Young women aren’t going to want to shag you. Get over it!

Omg livid! How and why is there a debate about whether a female is "chubby" or not! For me the main point is its a derogatory term used as an insult. He obviously isn't a fan so thought it OK to throw out an insult for his listeners. I don't know the man, or his radio show, but my guess is its the kind of thing he usually does? I bet he's loving all the attention he's getting from this.

The thing with Tilly is she stores her weight just like I do. She's not lithe or lean or muscular or bony, shes soft and round. I bet her actual measurements are tiny, but the way she stores her weight can make her look bigger than she is.

She is not chubby by any stretch of the imagination - and even if she was, why is it appropriate to be bringing up on the radio by an old man who's nothing to do with her? Would he have said the same about confident Judi or Sara, or did he go for the young girl who he thought was less likely to hit back? Hope daddy Gordon gets him blacklisted from every fancy restaurant going.

Being either end of the weight spectrum is unhealthy. Being overweight & underweight. You should rock your body but over eating/poor eating & under eating/over exercising is not healthy mentally or physically. If you choose to be happy being either end of this spectrum then great, love yourself! But I hate that we kid ourselves being fat or stick thin is normal. It’s not. Both put you at risk of various illness and our overweight culture is a major major pressure on the NHS.

Tilly is neither under or overweight. I’d bet you anything she has a very average, healthy BMI.

I just personally don’t see why any one person has to comment on another person’s weight, especially so publicly. As someone who’s struggled with weight issues/ED all my life and had it drummed into me that I was fat even when I was a perfectly normal weight for my height, it’s very psychologically damaging. Fair enough if you don’t like Tilly’s dancing or whatever, but there’s no need to make it personal and pick at her appearance. That man was out of order and I’m glad we’ve moved forward enough that most people can see that he’s in the wrong.

It doesn't seem like Steve Allen has apologised for his comments about Tilly, no idea how he can ignore the situation when he was literally trending yesterday and had the wrath of a few celebs alongside having a government appointed mental health ambassador writing to his employer.
I think they're probably of the mindset that's there's no such thing as bad publicity. Small time radio station, a nobody of a talk show host trending. Everybody's talking about them.

Tilly is just a healthy normal sized 19year old but she does have a round face which gives her the illusion of being “chubby”.

What doesn’t help is somehow this year wardrobe are struggling to dress the women who aren’t super slim.Sara is another who’s been put in unflattering dresses. I don’t know if Vicky Gill has a new team this year or what but some of the dresses have been awful and very unflattering this year. But she does have her favourites each year who get some beautiful costumes and some get some really questionable things. But I do think this comes from not really knowing how to dress more mid sized ladies which I find really odd for so called “experts”.

It’s refreshing to see a variety of body types on prime tv and I think it’s good Tilly is on strictly but isn’t your usual size 8, long legged, wash board stomach type person! For her age bracket who are used to seeing love island type bodies, it’s good Tilly represents more normal looking young women!

Also she hasnt gone down the fillers and tit-ton of makeup route. It makes me so sad to see 19 year olds having lip and cheek fillers because they want to look like a bloody filter. It can't be good for their faces in years to come.

I really feel for Tilly I just hope it hasn't affected her as much as it would me in her place. I think part of the problem is our association with words like chubby as if it's the worst thing you could call someone. She could be chubby and still gorgeous and a great dancer! Then again I also think our perception of what is 'chubby' these days is skewed and Tilly is just a regular sized girl. Regardless, it's obvious he meant it in a snide, negative way.

I don't care if people think it's political correctness gone mad, a comment like that has the potential to eat away at someones confidence-she's bound to feel self conscious now and for what? A cheap laugh? As if it isn't hard enough dancing in front of millions of people every week. She's a teenager for gods sake! Like I said, hopefully she's stronger than that but it worries me.

Did anyone watch ITT last night? How interesting that Pasha scored two perfect 10s for Salsa, out of only six perfect 10s that have been awarded! I really miss Pasha ❤️

Yeah, I think a lot of people have forgotten how most 19 year old girls actually look. We're so used to seeing hair extensions and filler and heavy makeup etc.

I find it really weird when people are defending Tilly saying she's "not chubby". She could be a size 24 and it wouldn't matter. The man has no right commenting on her body regardless.
So true. People mean well but saying she has a normal body almost sounds like his body-shaming is excused when he does it to Gemma Collins. What even is a normal body? We’re all genetically different and someone being morbidly obese or dangerously skinny doesn’t mean they want comments made about them. Eating disorders breed on comments made about size😢

Tilly has a round face - I do too and at my skinniest always felt that made me look heavier. I hate the c word as I’ve heard it a lot in my earlier life. Vicky Gill has lost the plot with her and Sara. Sara has had too tight backs on two of her ballroom dresses and when in hold you see her back a lot. Both need something 60s and short so they can show off legs without being so bodycon. Or at least something with a smooth back rather than cut outs that let a constrained body escape. Sara is working so hard I want her to look her best. Tilly is young and I know she has a supportive family - and who would take on Ramsay senior - but it’s really not fair on younger girls this show. Glad she called out that
man and her dad left it alone.
I wonder what’s gone on in the costume department this year. I wonder if they’ve had to lose some staff or they have a lower budget but it’s noticeable worse imo.

One of the first things I spotted when I started watching Strictly is all the women used to wear coloured bangles that matched their outfits! I don’t think you get them any more, bad times. I’m off to see if I can make a collage of bangles

ETA Pointless Collage

I’m not quite sure there’s a point to this bangle thing and I’m sure you can all imagine where said bangles are placed 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ola’s outfit though 🥵🥵🥵

So today’s poser…do we think 19 is too young an age for contestants on Strictly? Last year was Maisie and this year it’s Tilly - they have both received harsh comments and both years it’s been reminded that they are young. Should the BBC say or 21 or over, given there’s probably nothing they can do about any contestant being spoken about unfavourably in the press?

It’s clear the BBC want to attract a younger audience and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. But I know how Tilly will be feeling today and 19 is still young. Can the BBC protect her in any way?

My husband was living in his own flat at 19, my mum died two weeks before my 19th birthday and so many people are parents at that age so there is the school of thought that 19 is an adult and therefore you should act and be treated like other adults. But Strictly is a synthetic experience and it would be a shame for Tilly to have her experience ruined by some twit who’ll probably have a hard-on because everyone is talking about him
