I read once a while back that so much goes on backstage that never makes the press. I think the BBC controls the narrative. For example I read on mumsnet that Matt Baker and Aliona had an affair, but because he was a BBC golden boy they protected him. One of the judges also had a fling with a celeb. It was one of either Craig, Bruno and Darcey. It definitely wasn’t Len, but the person who told me wouldn’t divulge who. They also told me Brendon was very popular with the crew and other professionals and they all saw him as a father type figure.

This completely. They decide what we find about and what we don’t. At least while the show is on anyway.

I remember Matt and Aliona tingling my spidey senses when they were on it....!

I think it's perfectly reasonable to want to dance to your favourite songs, and have certain themes you want to do. Probably makes it a more enjoyable experience. For me, the celeb and the pro should be together having more influence on the song/theme choice.
I have a playlist of all the songs I’d want to dance to and I’d be so disappointed if any of my many ideas were vetoed😆😆

Which costume for Robert? 🤣

I'd rather they dressed Robert like this rather than a tunic, green tights and copious body paint you know they're going to.

I really don't like the body paint. It always look a bit rubbish through the TV, particularly compared to the other costumes. I'd rather they used intricate rubber masks or a furry/felt hood to get the message across with cartoon characters!

I was under the impression Robert was game for comedy numbers (he seems to enjoy dressing up and acting goofy) but maybe he isn't? I hope the silly routines aren't being foisted on him.

I love Brendan! Looking forward to seeing him on DOI especially with Arlene 😂
I can't really remember their history. I thought they actually got on once you looked past all the pantomime judging crap on Strictly but maybe they don't!

I always feel bad for the old Strictly pros. They were instrumental in the success of the show and I don't think they were treated well when TPTB started to muck around with the format.

Matthew Cutler especially as he was a flipping amazing choreographer (group pro dances).

My money is on Bruno.

Greg said on ITT that he had asked producers pre the series for him to to Bond and Paso. Not keen on the celebs asking for music/dances adds bias.
Is it me or is strictly upping the sycophancy for the star names Greg and Ramsay (via the daughter)
I wouldn’t be surprised if he had it in his contract to keep him until at least the 3rd elimination, hence Couple’s Choice really early and James Bond this week. Or at least not the first one to go. He’s quite a big signing for Strictly so they could’ve easily wanted to keep him sweet

It was Craig and Joe McFadden who were rumoured to have had an affair

I wonder why they let him go completely then. I could understand moving him on from being a pro but seems odd to completely remove someone who everyone likes behind the scenes.
I've seen Brendan's live show a few times. He chats to the audience between dances and answers questions from the crowd... he said that the judges didn't like the way he strongly defended his partners from their criticisms and hinted at a major clash with Shirley when she joined the judging panel in 2017... I got the impression that he thought it was her influence made the BBC drop him from the show 🤷‍♀️

I can't imagine SCD could do that and override (invalidate?) the popular vote. There would be uproar if people found out. And while he is a big-ish name, so is Adam, or Tom Fletcher. In fact, more people probably knew who Nina was, via EastEnders, than Greg..
