I've just never been impressed by her, she's fine but I don't think she has anything special. Apart from the hair she's not really a memorable pro. I don't really understand what there is that fans rave about.
Yeah she got lucky with joe already having a following and getting into a relationship with him. I want to see her with a ringer to really see what she can do. Also we need to acknowledge that Aliona is the original red head of strictly 🙌

I mean not to drag Gio because I like him a pro but something has to be said that as a 31 year old he has not been able to have a meaningful longterm relationship yet despite being with many women. Because he's young and in the prime of his dance career he might as well just stick to been the pin up boy of strictly for these years and settle down in his 40's.
I find gio incredibly attractive but he also gives me the massive ick. I know it’s probably hard maintaining a relationship as professional dancer but so many of the other pros are in long term relationships/married and he’s just floating from one person to another isn’t a great look. I think it’s this playing up to that sleazy Italian stereotype that gives me the massive ick. I think he genuinely loved Ashley though. I think he could do to meet the “right” girl who’s not in the public eye and isn’t a after fame.

But I think she did do well with Joe in his dances especially in his ballrooms. I would like to see her get a ringer to to see what she can do. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Dianne was dying her hair all sorts of colours before strictly and had started dying it red even before she was asked to be a pro.

Yeah theres always this icky feeling around him when you see him hopping into relationship very quickly one after the other. He's better off staying single for a good while.

He and Ashley were cute together. I’m sure l read somewhere ages ago that she mentioned in a radio interview that she wanted to freeze her eggs (she was 38 and he was 29). And two weeks later they were over.

I saw them both walking down the Kings Road once. Before I realised who they were I actually said out loud to myself, wow they are a really good looking couple! 😂

Ikr, did he think Hollywood was going to be breaking down his door after appearing on I'm A Celebrity?

I got the impression AJ had spent his whole life being told he's great, and he had early success in his career so I don't think it occurred to him that he would ever fail.
You could tell on that SAS program he did that him being so much more successful that Curtis was a sore point in the family.
I admire his loyalty and close bond with his brother but to mess up your own career so spectacularly was a foolish move especially the way he left Strictly.

I love that Nikita is a loving cat father. I don't love that he's got the most smush-faced cat I've ever seen in my life.

I really really hope it was a rescue and he didn't buy it from some asshole breeder that intentionally gave it a head so small it looks like it barely has room for its eyes.

Its legs look awfully munchkin-y too. Poor baby.

I love cats but that poor sod has a face only Nikita could love.

I’m convinced aj leaving like he did was down to Curtis and some crappy agent/manager. Despite him being a bit irritating he was a popular pro who usually did quite well. He’d still be on the show if Curt hadn’t done love island.

According to both of them it was AJ that convinced Curtis to apply for Love Island. Originally he was head hunted by another dating show, he was somewhat reluctant and asked for AJ's advice and he told him that if he was interested on doing a show like that he should go on the biggest one.

I do think out of the two of them AJ seems the more driven to be a 'star'. Even looking at their social medias it's clear that AJ promotes himself more and has taken a few pointers to keep his followers engaged and relevant whereas Curtis (who has the bigger following due to Love Island) hardly seems to bother. Perhaps that's something that has happened in hindsight given the way the press and social media went after him after he split with Maura Higgins. He hasn't really seemed the same since. Giovanni got the same treatment of Maura's management briefing against him in the press with negative stories and her fans attacking him but was very lucky the goodwill people had of him potentially being with Rose overshadowed that.

As for why AJ left I had a friend who I considered a good source for industry gossip...not in terms of affairs or beefs but more like why program makers make the business decisions they do. A couple of years ago she told me Strictly has been wanting to slowly cycle out the current pros to bring in the next generation. It's not uncommon for the pros to have side gigs but recently a lot of them have really seemed eager to secure other bags or sure up the celeb credentials. I imagine AJ suspected he might only had a few more years at best in him and decided it was wiser to jump now while there was still interest in him and Curtis due to Love Island.

Unpopular opinions incoming; I don't think there was anything negative in the way he left. If anything it was more of an error in judgement for Strictly to announce him as a returning pro without it being definite he was signed on. These things happen though and I get the sense it was all no harm no foul on both ends. Also most of the pros crave the spotlight so it's not a surprise when they want to be stars outside the world of dancing. Not everyone can be Oti and Anton and while you or I might think it's waste I'm sure more than a few of the current pros would love to do some of things AJ has done since leaving.

Its an interesting idea that its a sore point in the family - but I've never picked that at all. Ive always thought AJ to be the more driven in the family and I think he continues to be so. Its seems he persuaded Curtis to do LI and I'm not sure how much appetite his brother has for a social media life - his presence is patchy to say the least. In addition to which he's taken quite a beating, both when on LI and after, with endless speculations about his sexuality, his weight and his commitment to a relationship. The spotlight has been pretty harsh on him; it's hard to find any comments about him which are neutral, let alone sympathetic or positive .

My own reading would be that AJ became frustrated with the limits the Strictly put on other projects he wanted to develop, and that he was keen to protect his relationship or at least give it a good chance of success. Most successful couples on Strictly are subject to rumours of romantic attachments and it must be pretty wearing for any established relationship.
