I’ve followed John for ages on Insta and have loved him since he won GBBO. He does suffer with his mental health though and I think he might come across as highly strung to some. I do think that the pirate dance was their best so far and it’s a shame it was so early in the competition. I could do without Johannes crying every week and agree that sometimes he’s over-danced and outshone John. I think it’s more obvious simply because they are two men dancing together as a lot of the other male/female pros dance exactly as they would with their professional partners.

As far as the marking was concerned, I agree with others that they are dishing 10s out too often and Craig is the barometer for what is really worth a 10. I hope it’s John, Rose and AJ in the final. I absolutely love Rose & AJ too (probably Rose & Gio are my favourites) so if either of them win over John, it’s well-deserved. For next year, my main wish is that they’d dump Tess. She’s just not up to presenting with her lack of personality. I fast forward every time she’s on!

This is what I like about a forum - everyone has a different perspective and it enhances my enjoyment of the show

I’ll be pissed off or anguished or whatever about something, and then hop on to see someone’s made a daft meme about it and remember that it could be read in another fashion and not to take it all as seriously :D.
And it’s a reminder that it’s all subjective
 
What a semi-final that was!

Rhys and Nancy #1 - every week I watch his dances hoping I'm finally going to 'get it'. Sorry, still don't. He's definitely improved but I just find him so stilted and awkward to watch, in every dance style.

AJ and Kai #1 - LOVED THIS, the footwork looked insanely complicated and she didn't put a foot wrong at all. I'm so glad she finally got a 40, she was robbed of one in her Charleston (which I hope we see again next week). This was gorgeous.

John and Johannes #1 - I really liked this as contemporary dances go. I still don't think this dance style should be included in Strictly (especially not in the SF!) but I did enjoy this. I've done a bit of contemporary in the past and getting that fluidity and flow is much much harder than it looks, would imagine especially hard when you've spent 12 weeks learning ballroom and Latin technique.

Rose and Gio #1 - gorgeous, dreamy, perfect. Felt emotional like Anton. I genuinely forget that she can't hear the music properly sometimes, her musicality is so good, she interprets every song perfectly through her movements.

Rhys and Nancy #2 - could just copy and paste from above. He did get a nice bounce but I clearly am just not seeing what the judges are.

AJ and Kai #2 - I didn't think it was quite as sensual and sexy as they made out, but still really well danced, best rumba of the series by quite a way. I'm so glad she pulled it out of the bag this week, she really deserves to be in the final.

John and Johannes #2 - what was this?! Someone did them really dirty with the music and I didn't even realise it was a jive until about 30 seconds in. Really weak on a night when everyone stepped their game up.

Rose and Gio #2 - oh my god. There was a bit where Gio looks away and then Rose slowly brings his face back to hers... tit the bed, run me over, I actually died. Again Rose just judges the music and the mood so perfectly.

Agree with previous posters - the only true 10 is a Craig 10. If you want to give out a 10 with a crown, you've not understood the scoring system and what a 10 stands for.

I don't think so. A J has been criticised constantly on this thread for sob stories and for crying. Far more than J +J.
I agree re CC. Didn't it used to be that they chose between contemporary, jazz and something else? I don't think contemporary should be in it. It's too free form and too ' Oh you don't get it if you don't like it, which is basically what Matthew Bourne said about Tom Fletchers dance. If you need to have a degree in dance to understand and enjoy something, it's not a good dance. A lot of the CC are like that, especially when they are contemporary, which is rarely entertaining or good imo.

I really don't understand people saying they think John is Drama Queen - he's dancing with Johannes!!! Now i love JoJo but he's been really dramatic every week!!! Usually it's the celeb getting upset and the pro supporting them. Here I think it's John doing the supporting.

I do wonder if it's to do with Jojo's background. Can't have been easy for him growing up in South Africa. And now he's dancing on prime time tv with another man.

But I've loved them as a couple. They've produced some fab dances and John has come across as very witty.

The person I feel sorry for is John's partner. If I was him, I'd be worried JoJo was setting up a hit man to take me out so he could get a free run at John 😂😂😂

I've never seen a Pro who looks so besotted with their celeb. Even the strictly curse couples seemed to tone it down on the show. But JoJo, for me, isn't giving a monkeys 😂😂😂

One final thought - after last week's drama of mistakes and failed lifts, this week's show was fabulous with at least 3 dances that'll make their way into Strictly compilation DVDs (Merry Christmas Mum!!!)

Ryhs has grown on me, but it needs to John, AJ and Rose in the final.

I said this to my son when he asked why Jojo was crying. It can't have been easy, and in that situation, I didn't mind the VT, just like Roses one. But the problem is, most of the celebs don't have much more than most people have to deal with in their background, but feel they have to do the same thing on their VT's, yet their problems are things like 'my dad is Gordon Ramsey'. Although Dan didn't do that. And it's also nothing to do with the dance. Roses CC told the story and would have done without the VT whereas I felt J+J needed the VT to make sense of the dance.
 
Not sure if someone’s made the comment already but I think along with the dancing skill, I feel Jon would have come further in the competition than Nicola regardless because he has more charisma and is showing much more of his own personality.
We’ve seen from most athletes that they can be a bit stilted and put the game face on when it comes to the judges and critique. Especially with Nicola’s discipline as a boxer, unless she’d really chosen to show her real self she’d always have that emotional distance and wouldn’t let herself go.

Somehow I think Amy will still be living with them at that point, and Tom will be muscling in on the rehearsals with the new partner!

God love Tilly. Her couple's choice was just 'I love my dad? Also here's a dance to a musical that my very supportive parents took me to many times?'

Which at least was an honest presentation of the situation and if you have to do CC, I'd rather that. I quite liked Dan's approach as well. He basically said 'I like my job and isn't Old Trafford cool'. Which. Fair enough!
