Very short show! I thought Celine Dion had really gone downhill until I realised it wasn't her but a 'Stars In Their Eyes' audition. Rather than being near the end, John and Johannes got to open the show this week. Anton didn't like the dodgy lift but gave them 9, then in similar circumstances gave AJ a 7. Hmm.

Glad for Rhys, he was really good tonight and seemed to have more control over his emotions. I suppose that's good as long as he's not bottling them all up which would be bad. Rose was as enchanting as ever while likable Dan is obviously the underdog. Then, the British public do love an underdog but haven't read the thread in case of spoilers. 3 weeks to Christmas Day!! Bloody hell.

If I understood correctly John's lift was mostly Johannes fault so they couldn't have marked him down for it (too much). Whereas AJ made mistakes herself.
Still thought the scoring was a bit all over the place and agree with someone from earlier, who said they all were better at the beginning of the show (apart from Dan obviously).

They've built a lovely partnership, and seem to be getting very little credit for the level of difficulty in what they are doing (eg Johannes is not used to being lifted which is the 'woman's role')

I don't think he comes across like that at all. I suspect he just loves to dance, so he just does it but forgets he's meant to be keeping an eye on his partner.
 
The sun website is tit and keeps crashing but I read half that article and Sara said she only wanted Aljaž to avoid the curse - not realising they were wifeswappers I guess. Giovanni asked to partner Rose. Sounds like the celebrities and professionals get more input into partnerships than we are led to believe, or maybe only some do.

I posted an article a few months ago where Chris Kamara said he’d been training with his partner for 6 weeks before the show but then had to pull out for health reasons.

It’s a lot more contrived now - the one thing that really rips my husband’s knitting is in the VT when the contestant has to pretend it’s the first time they’re learning what dance they’re doing - he gets disproportionately annoyed by it 😂

Hungover so trying to recall.

John - Johannes OTT danced, John can move but he's too relaxed, need some sharpness to finish the moves. Loved them styling out/laughing off the end non-lift.
Rhys - that was incredible, finally a great dance from him. Bet where did the"jealous girlfriend" pop out from, Aladdin's lamp?
Rose - meh I liked it because I liked them but boring. I didn't understand the point of that leap, like she was going to dive into a hula hoop, yes it showed trust and practice but for the dance it didn't do it.
Dan - safe dance with the right music, not enough POW from him and Nadiya being a sultry distraction again.
AJ - if I can remember I think her cha cha on week 1 was her best latin. This was high content but not neat and that end lift, oh dear.
And last 2 weeks her make up is bad, the highlighter or foundation is too light makes her look like gaunt and garish.

Short episode so will watch again later

Look at her figure in that black outfit! She looks great, the Strictly costume team did her so dirty, I suppose they didn't really have an 'older' woman to dress this year so they passed the mantle onto poor Sara.
 
I don't always agree with the criticism of Johannes (like last week, it made sense for him to have more of the flourishes in the AT as John was leading), but last night it was really obvious and he made John look at bit lacklustre (when he actually did a good job). By this stage, he should be doing everything to make John shine.

I wasn't keen on Rose's lift personally, but Gio was very clever to make such a big deal of it - even though Rose danced well, that routine needed a talking point that showed her off and got her lots of praise because it might have been a bit forgettable otherwise

All Johannes did to show off John was stop for a few seconds to point at John shaking his 🍑. As lovely as that is, he needs to do more now! Maybe the lift would have been amazing if it worked? But it didn't, so...

Kai had a girlfriend (Guilia) for 5 years. They broke up when he moved to Strictly from DWTS. I don’t get any gay vibes from him at all.
 
I love AJ and Kai but I do think sometimes the pro's push their partners too hard, last night I thought she looked tired and she just couldn't do the lift at the end. Chucking everything at it is risky and a big ask. It didn't work out this time. I agree with someone else tho who said J and J didn't get marked down for their gaff at the end but AJ and Kai did! For me it doesn't matter who's fault it is, you mess up you mess up! The judges will turn a blind eye if it suits them.
