Agreed - they need to expand their types a bit more (the guys on the other European versions are better). Hopefully whoever they hire for this series to replace AJ & Kevin will fill the void.

Well I think its pretty much confirmed Kai Widdrington has taken one of those spots; so I would say it will be him and another new male pro joining this year.

Gleb was the fittest male pro ever - shame he only lasted a season and isn't very well liked on the intl versions. I'll have him
I can definetly agree there. Gleb is so hot it's unreal.

I can appreciate why people find them attractive, but both Giovanni and Gleb do absolutely nothing for me at all. I think Gorka is the only male pro I've properly fancied , though Tristan was very handsome
Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but did anyone see the rumour about Oti being a judge on The Masked Dancer? If true (and it seems plausible), I'm starting to wonder if she will actually be back - she's definitely not short of TV work right now, and that's a high profile gig for her. I know it won't clash with Strictly filming, but it feels like she way more famous than most of the Strictly 'celebs' these days
Also, if it is true, AJ and Curtis must be fuming

I think if Oti was leaving, they'd have announced it by now - mid Feb was around the time we heard of Pasha and Kevin's departures. Then again, given the financial situation - if she's getting a plum gig at ITV, I think someone else deserves the spot on Strictly.

A pro on the French version won 4 years in the space of 5 and still stuck around so I guess it's not a guarantee that Oti will leave. I suppose it depends whether or not she is enticed by the idea of getting a dud partner or two in upcoming years.

Thing is, Oti’s other work is all based upon her Strictly reputation so I think she’ll stay.
I wonder how many pros actually decide to leave. Kevin, Joanne, Aliona & Natalie all definitely did. Same for Artem & Gleb when they got offers from DWTS. Ola & Pasha both looked like cases of jumping before being pushed while Kristina got pregnant so we never saw her again. Some were public that it was not their decision.
I think Oti is popular enough from Strictly that the work would be there for a few years but it would dry up eventually.

I always thought Pasha's exit might have been more a mutual agreement rather than just his decision and him getting the ringer of all ringers for his last celeb was a bit of a parting gift
I'm sure the BBC have plans for Oti if/when she does leave, and if not this year then probably next. Mind you, she does seem to genuinely love being a pro, rather than someone like AJ who clearly just saw it as a stepping stone, so who knows.
On the one hand, I like her on the show as she is a good at her job, but on the other hand, it's an awkward situation when she's more well known than most of the other pros (so it's not really a level playing field) and most of the celebs

I think he figured that it wasn't working when he got the weaker celebs as he'd just came off two really lacklustre years in a row with Naga & Chizzy and probably figured a 3rd year like that would mean he'd get axed. Better to go on your own accord and have a good last year so I think he told the producers and they offered him a ringer as a parting gift. I bet the show knew he was leaving when he was partnered up that year.
Oti being so well known may be an uneven playing field but could be handy if an unpopular male celeb signs up. The tactic usually is to give the controversial signing to a high profile and popular pro.

I would say if Oti is doing The Masked Dancer then no way she can return to strictly (that goes without saying for any pro currently on Strictly). The BBC wouldnt have a pro on their own dance show (biggest show in fact) to then go do a rival ITV dance show.
I remember Kai Widdrington said once the reason he and his dance partner were scouted for Britain's Got Talent back in 2012 was because ITV wanted ballroom/latin dances to be showcased to try and draw some of the Strictly viewers.

Is it now law that if there’s a new dance show oti has to be on it? It’s getting a bit annoying seeing her on EVERYTHING. She even ruined bbc good morning live when she presented it, and that’s saying something because it isn't great to start with. When I think of all the fantastic ex pros who haven’t had half her opportunities or special treatment on strictly (my opinion but the bias towards her is beginning to ruin the show for me, like the Clifton’s before her)

I love Oti, she's my favourite pro, so I don't mind seeing her on a lot of things but I can see why it is a bit overbearing for people who aren't so much a fan. There are other amazing pros who should be getting amazing opportunities too (not AJ) though I do still think Oti is deserving of everything she has achieved.
Amen! I did love her back in the days of Danny Mac but it's all faded since she got her first win with Kelvin. Wasn't too pleased that she & Bill won last series and she's basically overexposed at this point. Hopefully she gets a celeb who is voted out early this year and some of the others can actually shine because they'd all do good if given a chance (well, a couple of exceptions). Most past pros (especially female pros) could have only dreamed of her celeb draw and off season promotion. I wonder if it's a coincidence or not that when she got the 'old guy' (her only one after 5 young ones in a row! - again, never happened with any other female pro), he had prior dance training, was known for his musicality and was the most popular signing.
Can we not get a chance to see more of Nadiya, Dianne, Katya, Nancy who would all kill it if given anyone of Danny or Kelvin's ability?
