Steve’s vlogs #4. Always wishing away the week, Life with Steve looks very bleak 😬

1
The new intro is annoying why is there a need for old clips.

Probably using previous years "highlights" to pad out the 10 minute vlog time as they have bugger all new footage aside from him cleaning the toilet or sitting on his arse asking the kids what they're up to (which normally isn't much)

I think Sophie is doing the editing thesedays or until college starts by which time she'll be bored of it so Steve might have to pull his thumb out of his arse and take over, thats if he can tear himself away from his busy schedule of doing nothing which is unlikely because we're approaching peak Steve whinge time of Sep-Dec where he goes into slovenly overdrive, his beard gets straggly and the daily ailment cycle begins all the way to the new year.

And the longest run up to Christmas ever.

The video where Lacey gets her autism diagnosis often comes on my youtube homepage and every time, it has a different name so Steve must constantly be changing the wording of the title. Is this to get more views? He is so odd.

I think it is to do with that but maybe more so that people are aware of Lacey’s diagnosis when searching for his channel. It is odd, as it does come across like he wants that video to get more views. But I think he naively thinks it is a positive thing to do so it brings more awareness about autism.

Instead, I think it’s unfair to have that part of Lacey’s life plastered all over the internet until she is old enough to decide if she wants to talk about it or not. In a way, he is constantly “othering” Lacey which will make her feel more isolated and “different”. Of course it is important for her to recognise and know she has autism, as it will impact how she experiences life and also re-assure her why she feels certain ways.

But it shouldn’t mean she can’t live a full and happy life, yet her parents are drilling into her that she needs constantly shielding away from the outside world, stay inside and do very basic schoolwork. If she isn’t challenged then she will never know to challenge herself. And I think she is more capable than she is being led to believe.

I know everyone with autism is different, and we can’t see 24/7 what happens in their household, maybe Steve and Rachel have tried to push her to do things and she just cannot cope, but I’ve saw families with non-verbal autistic children who thrive and go to loads of places and experience life just with accommodations and tolerances in place.

Of course she may need to slowly get used to going to places, I’m not saying they should just drive her to a big busy theme park and expect her to cope fine. But they could start by taking her to the park, local places so she knows she isn’t too far from home and slowly build her confidence.

Sadly I can see a future for her where she stays at home and struggles to find independence. I hope I’m proved wrong I really do, but I’m not sure how she is going to overcome things when her parents just seem to not bother to help her do anything more than their usual day-to-day routine.

Unfortunately Lacey is so convenient for our Steve and Rache because they think she gives them the excuse to be even lazier than they were before in regards to parenting and venturing beyond their four walls.
I haven’t watched the vlogs consistently in years so correct be if I’m wrong but when they have gone on holiday as a family or to the beach or shopping in Lincoln, beyond Steve repeating ‘oh Lacey is so anxious/she really struggles with this’ etc etc, she actually seems to cope pretty well? They’ve never had to go home after 5 minutes because she’s had a meltdown and they don’t seem to mention her having actual panic attacks like they do with Soph. Her meltdowns seem to occur when they’ve got home so she’s masking in public. I know that is a pretty black and white view and not all struggles with autism and anxiety present themselves so blatantly. The fact that there’s always a countdown to their one day out a year can’t help. They need to take her out (beyond the supermarkets) regularly and then work on how to regulate her emotions when she gets home because surely half of the problem is the fact that they never bloody go anywhere unfamiliar.
Lacey’s struggles seem to be more with memory and thinking people are looking at her in public etc. Things that I’m sure professionals could’ve helped her with at the special school but she was cruelly robbed of that opportunity. Steve can change the title of his video to ‘raise awareness’ all he likes but his videos are really a guide of how not to cope with a child who has autism.

I wonder where they went for their trip today. I also wonder how many times Steve asked Lacey if she’s nervous, or said that she’s worried etc.

I just watched a bit of his vlog where Val was checking his blood sugar and blood pressure. What a big, fat mardy baby!! Oooh, oooh it hurts, oooh I can feel my heart beating, oooh it’s tight on my arm! He’s seriously not wired up properly. If I was his mother I’d give him a big kick up the arse but unfortunately she enables him to be this silly ickle boy. God help him if he gets anything seriously wrong with him.

Always amusing when Bill is in the vlogs. The look of utter contempt he gives Steve is like "Thank God this useless clown isn't my son".

By the way have we noticed he has bot comments on the channel now (i know it's difficult to tell from the usual crap posted by Henry Andrews and his gang of misfits)

But he suddently has generic replies from dormant youtube accounts such as "This video was so inspiring. I'm ready to take action!" "This topic is important" Likely from those chinese companies that send him all those tat products to review in exchange for bot comments and views.

Seems like he is beginning to understand that having 10k subscribers means nothing if less than 10% of them are actively exchanging so he's trying bump the views and comment count.

I’d be seriously pissed if i lived across the road from him. Having him point his camera and film across the road.
Why does everything stop when he see’s a few rain clouds 😂

Has he got some thing with Temu going on? That's 2 posts in 2 days he's had on his community page on YouTube?

Temu is basically Chinese tuppaware junk. He must be part of their affiliate scheme which pays him a pittance if he can peddle some of their wares to the simpletons in his comment section or worse get them to install the Temu app which is dodgier than a 7 pound note. Anyone with half a brain wouldnt touch any of it.

But hustler Steve is always on the look out for anything that can earn him a coin...without him lifting a finger of course.

Vlogging on youtube is dying for everyone. Even the big family vlog channels that have been around since day one aren't getting the views they once did. Doesn't matter if you have a million subscribers if only a tiny number of them are actively watching the whole video regularly. Reaction channels or football fan channels are the only money makers on youtube thesedays.

Google wants to turn the platform into tiktok. Short videos 60 seconds long of people doing silly dances that get millions of views and generate click ad revenue. Social media nowadays is all about short sharp quick videos that trend for a day then get replaced by something else.

The days of people filming their daily lives on youtube for passive income are coming to an end. The current payment rate is around $1 per thousand views and youtube takes 40% of everything so most will decide it just isn't worth the effort of filming something everyday and spending an hour or two editing and uploading a 10 minute vlog for a pittance in return.

It might just dawn on Steve that he'd be better off getting a real job.......
