The age of consent in the uk is 16, so there isn’t anything her parents could have done it’s not considered wrong in the eyes of the law if both were consenting - would I be happy if my 17 year old went with a 23 year old absolutely not but there’s nothing I or anyone else could do if both were consensual

I can’t really say anything to that I was 16 and my husband was 20 when we met, so technically he was a man too (still together by the way and I’m now 32) would I be thrilled about my daughter being with a 23 year old at 17? no
could I do anything about it? Also no.

17 year olds can leave home, live on their own, have babies, there’s literally nothing you can do about it.

Same. I was 16 when I met my now hubby. Married at 20 and still together. Mind you my mum and dad couldn't really lecture me as there is a 20 year age gap between them! I've met very mature 16 year old and seen very immature 40 year olds (head to Kate Lawler thread)
