If she hasn't legally changed her name from Cachia, the baby will be known as "Baby Cachia" while they are in hospital. It's all so problematic.
And if she changes her name back to Shaw prior to the baby being born, then the baby will be Connie Shaw.
Mum and new Bub will have different names to B & F, just another way she will make them feel excluded.

Not to WK, but there are plenty of families whose members have different surnames because of circumstances. She obviously can't name new baby Cachia, and the older two are as much Jaryd's as hers so there's no point changing their names, so it's inevitable it will have to be Shaw.

That being said, I don't think she has the emotional capacity to properly explain this to all the kids involved. They will be so confused because she will try to make them one happy family and tell them "surnames don't matter" or some bullshit like that when Connie asks her why their surnames are different to B&F (like, they don't, but she's gonna brush it off and not explain the reason why they're different and that it doesn't make them any less of a family). It's going to be a clusterfuck.

Why would you feel the need to add this about not rushing back to Fiji? Particularly in a post paying tribute to your daughter? Why not just say what a special time it was?!!

Not particularly important but even if her last name is still cachia I don’t think the baby will be baby cachia in hospital. I understand they are all different but I’ve had three babies in two hospitals (so a very small sample) and they were always “baby of [my name]” and never “baby [my last name]”.

but it is interesting. Like many keep their married name so that they have the same name as their kids but this doesn’t really account for having another baby on your own. Presumably it will be Shaw, it would be weird if it was Cachia but if everyone else has that last name it would ALMOST make sense. Especially if there is an actual baby cachia being born shortly before and Sophie wanted to be territorial about it.

I’m on the fence. On the one hand, given that Soph is the first and best single solo mama ever to exist, I can see little Connie Shaw being the first baby ever born that takes their mother’s surname. On the other hand, she’s very attached to the Cachia name and I can see her keeping it for Connie to stake her claim and stick it to Jarryd’s new partner because they’re sooo progressive and still the Cachia family together.

I’m pretty sure you can assume your maiden name once you are separated or divorced. So even if she hasn’t technically changed back to Shaw, the baby can legally be Shaw.
This is correct. It's quite easy to go back to your birthday certificate name. I've done that and you can do that anytime - it's not related to the divorce. My kids still have their dads name, who has since remarried and she's taken his name while her kids still have their father's name.

The names are really quite irrelevant as long as your children know they are your family. It's important they understand that. I assume Sophie is pretty bad at that part. Plus the Cachia gear they all get around wearing - that has the potential to make the new baby feel a bit isolated.....

Didn't she cut short the trip to Japan with Bobby too? One of the twins had a baby and she wanted to surprise her?

Frankston hospital goes by the mother's surname on the medicare card but it seems other hospitals have different protocols.
