I've never heard of the 2pound bus fare, what's that?

Surely you must of known about bus fares being capped at £2 for a single ticket. It has been in operation for quite a long time now, across the whole UK.

Costs the Government around £300M to run annually.

For a Government that is supposedly obsessed with green and net zero policies, a rather strange thing to even consider axing.

Agree with you @Dame Christine Bleakley

I’m right leaning but have never had a problem slagging them off. They made it easy for me in recent years, obvs.

Labour supporters seem much more cultish in their adoration of their leaders, and less prone to critical thinking.

I find it odd. I don’t hero worship anyone.

Agree with your post. They just seem totally unable to accept any criticism - even when the party is in the wrong. However, are more than happy to dish it out to others.

I've found it the other way to be honest. People pile on Labour for the smallest things but when brought up the Tories used to do worse, people say "yeah but it is expected of the tories". It's like they're given a free pass to act like complete wazzocks.

Same and some people refuse to think right leaning exists as everything that isn't left is far right.

That's the intolerant left. Happy to join in when we were slagging off the Tories but now refuse to have the same rules and invent a parallel universe where people are being unfair to labour.

A policy that appeared to have worked...

However...

If Labour are that heavy on net zero and green policies, then it should continue. They can't hand Ed Millipede billions to waste on various untested green initiatives; Yet potentially axe a scheme that has clearly gotten people out of their cars, and saved a load of co2 and toxic particles going into the air.

We’ve got this happening at the same time as they’re filling up prison cells with people who said nasty things on Facebook.

How is anybody, whether they’re right or left leaning, not supposed to recognise this for the tit show that it is?

You do know that this is by no means a new policy and the Tories routinely released prisoners early? It may well be a shitshow, but it’s by no means a new one.

“Rishi Sunak’s government released more than 10,000 prisoners up to 70 days early, figures reveal, as the new justice secretary prepares to announce further emergency measures to ease another overcrowding crisis in jails.
Ministry of Justice figures show that 10,083 prisoners were allowed to walk free under the end of custody supervised licence (ECSL) scheme between October 2023 and June 2024 in England and Wales.”

Oh dear. We're talking about just over a handful of people getting sentences for that. If it acts as a deterrent and puts some people off posting inciting racist bollocks in the name of "free speech", I'm OK with it. Look where it all led back in August, after all.

As Ms Begotten has said, the early release of prisoners is nothing new.

And it’s basically because the tories (allegedly the party of law and order) failed to build new prisons and underfunded the criminal justice system

Which is another reason that I never buy things from cheap Chinese websites.
That and the fact that they use enforced labour, including children.
Same here.

I'm sick of telling people that China is a slave economy, and that's how they can practically give stuff away. It's like spitting into the wind for all the good it does.

It angers me when websites give the impression that items are British, or at least from a "free" (none of us are free) economy, and it lands on the doorstep and it's from China. Had I known this, I would never have ordered whatever-it-was. It should be a legal requirement to state country of manufacture.

So is your issue with the product that it came from an economy not seen as free, or the country's fossil fuel consumption?

Just to add. This was the point where I stopped voting Labour. The unions selected this wanker over his very sensible brother. It’s been deeply deeply downhill ever since. Shame.

Some dyed in the wool Labour people do not actually want power, philosophically they kinda wander around in a dreamy netherworld of socialist ideals that only actually work in fictional literature. Mr. Corbyn for example. Such a cynical git to boot, I bet he's not going to be shivering in front of a one bar fire this Xmas.

Both.

It's a brutal economy that doesn't give a damn about its own population or about the state of the environment. I wouldn't knowingly support it for either reason. However I do consider the way many people are exploited to be the worse of the two crimes on a human level even though the use of fossil fuels has greater global impact.

I'm not pretending that there are easy answers - just that the UK's contribution to global warming is negligible - there is no reason to for vulnerable people to suffer when there is no benefit to anyone.
