Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols moved to the USA and had a radio show there.
Jonesy's Jukebox
He used to do interview segments with musicians and he did a really good one with (Sir) Midge a few years ago.
I think the interviews might be on youtube.

Those old enough to remember (Sir) Midge before Band Aid and before Ultravox will know he was in Rich Kids and Slik..
And he is an excellent guitarist.

Thin Lizzy were on tour in the USA and Gary Moore left the band mid tour.

Midge was asked to step in.
He had to learn the guitar parts on the plane and more or less go straight on stage when he got there.
He did it and saved the tour.
I remember it happening.
He tells the story in the Steve Jones show interview.
It's well worth listening to if it's still on youtube.

Midge is fantastic. Just as important in Band Aid history as Geldof.
And all he got was a measly OBE when that scruffy loudmouth got the bloody knighthood.

Justice for (Sir) Midge!!

Saw Ultravox in Torquay in 1980 when I was partying after finishing my a-levels. They were all gorgeous and the sound was incredible, like nothing I’d ever heard before. I was so mesmerised that when I broke my toe dancing ( hard to credit, I know, but I am clumsy) I barely noticed and just kept going.

When the music stopped and I had to walk home though, the pain really set in 🥴

Lovely, lovely Midge

A horrid illness.

I notice one of the sons has her surname and one has his. Not seen that before.
Meghan Trainor’s first son originally had her husband’s name and their 2nd her’s but I think both are Trainors now.

Irish singer Lyra aka The Bandon Beyoncé is famously coy about her age. She was described as 31 in an Irish Examiner article in June but her local magazine has done her dirty with this pic, or maybe she was a very mature looking 11 year old!😉

Always liked Annabelle Giles. She seemed so beautiful, together and self deprecating. I remember her on some vox pops show looking back at the 80s where they showed her old clips of herself on the ITV rip off of the Clothes Show.

Paraphrasing she said "God I talked a load of shite. Sorry about that!"
I found it quite endearing.

She was on I'm a Celeb. And came across well. Funny and clever.
Very sad she died so young.

He’s so blatantly trying to get the Gen Z LGBTQ+ army on his side, for his inevitable expose.
I hope they aren’t thick enough to fall for it.
Well they all seem to love Barrymore judging by his success on TikTok so you never know 🤢
Edited to say that was not a swipe at the LGB community, it was about the gullible youths who comment on TikTok.

The comments are so fawning! And they all seem to want him back on TV! I didn't think he was a good presenter or entertainer even before his 'downfall', he often seemed to me to be being nasty and spiteful and enjoying it rather than a bit of gentle piss taking like say Bradley Walsh who I think does take the piss out of chase contestants a bit but in a nice way rather than a spiteful way. I have no idea why anyone would want to see him on TV again.

He was vile. There’s so many clips of him humiliating people on his game shows and getting kids to say inappropriate things so everyone could laugh at them. I really can’t understand all the love he gets now. They seem to think he’s some misunderstood, gentle soul who was done dirty by the press 🤢 He’s got a thread on here and it’s horrible reading what he is really like!

so you were, in fact, "dancing with tears in my eyes."
:m :m :m :m :m :m

I see producer Trevor Horn was in the news recently for some award. This Band Aid chat reminded me of the story of Bob Geldof calling him up:

BG: "Trevor, could you do a 12-inch mix?"
TH: "Sure, give me three weeks"
BG: "You've got one night"

:D
His wife Jill Sinclair (essentially took care of the business side of ZTT/Perfect Songs/pretty much all things Trevor Horn related) was widely disliked in the music industry. Then her son ended up accidentally shooting her in the neck whilst practising with an air rifle in 2006, not realising she was nearby, causing irreversible brain damage.

She's up for doing Eurovision next year!

Had a brill holiday to Butlins Skegness back in the day. It rained and was miserable the whole time but I was 13 and met a boy. Magical 🤣
I went with college at 18 as part of a travel and tourism trip for my BTEC. Basically got pissed and saw Stephen mulhern and went to the crappy market and bought some dodgy designer gear. Loved it and some great memories. I’d love to go back (if I was 18).

He took it upon himself to start fixing potholes in the roads near his house not that long ago, didn’t he? Or was that an exceptionally weird fever dream of mine?
For his Ferrari I believe
