Walliams just has to be next, surely? Bet the sleazy bleep is bricking it right now.
It’s so depressing and frustrating that he’s getting away with it. Hopefully this will have a ripple effect and people might consider coming forward.
---
And?
Are you excusing his behaviour?
People said this about Brand too, that it’s all an exaggerated comedic persona, whereas we now know that isn’t the case.

I kept reading that awful 365 days tweet as being by Jake Shears and being quite upset as a massive Kylie fan and appreciative of Sissor Sisters. Turns out my caffeine levels weren't topped up enough 🤣

From an anthropological view, it'd be interesting to see how much my generation has been affected by the wretched culture we grew up with and may be why so few marry and have kids. Life is hard enough.

I thought the same re: Scissor Sisters - was quite upset as he seemed nice on Buzzcocks the other night.
I’d not heard of this idiot before and I’m glad of it.

This happens in every job sadly doesn’t it. Men don’t get it, I’m sorry but they don’t. It is exactly the same with racial dynamics. I am a white woman, I can appreciate what people go through, I see the inequalities and I in no way support racism but I know I can’t fully understand what people go through. Some people want to learn more, some don’t care and the same works with this. I worked with a consultant (hospital) who bullied the female junior doctors on the sole reason they were women, he would tell them they couldn’t be an excellent doctor because they’re women and will have a family! I had an incident with him where he messed up on something and in the debrief I called it out. My life was made hell from then on with him. He would put his hand to my face telling me to be quiet when I tried to speak about patient care. This went on for months. I reported it. He wanted an apology from me. I don’t my manager I am not apologising but I will meet for mediation to air how we both felt. He declined. I also had another incident (was one of many) where the clinical director told everyone that midwives were pointless (words to that effect) and it was the male doctors women needed (do they duck! I’ve came across too many male consultant obstetricians that they do that job for power over women). He did get the sack eventually but that was because he fucked up on a case big style. I ended up whistleblowing on the whole culture and shortly after lost my job. My union and solicitor asked if I had ever reported anything or whistleblew. The people in my appeal were all men.
This misogyny in health care is absolutely rampant unfortunately. I say this from a patient perspective but don’t doubt it happens to female healthcare workers too.

Merail

I found this through personal experience. I had a serious and progressive spinal cord injury, which caused me to totally lose sexual sensation and bladder function (caused by a male doctor who performed a spinal injection badly). But every time I begged for help I was told I was imagining it and just a bit depressed, that this was common with ‘women of my age’, and sent for psychiatric evaluation to ‘reeducate’ my mind to stop imagining pain. They even wrote to my rheumatologist to say that my existing condition was probably imaginary. All the neurologists were male. It was literally a living hell. A year on and I’m now diagnosed, but still have no treatment as they all refuse to engage with me, or with my private neurologist.

The same hospital was implicated in a bowel mesh scandal which left many women in constant pain. The surgeon tried to block the eventual investigation, saying the stress was ‘affecting his libido.’

There’s also been a national scandal about vaginal mesh which left many women unable to have sex. They were told by one prominent consultant in the media that they should just do anal instead. God knows what these people are like out of the public eye.

There’s also research to show male doctors typically believe that women are exaggerating their pain, and women are statistically more likely to be referred for counselling than offered pain relief (males encounter the opposite scenario).

Much medication is also only studied for its effect in men, and may be ineffective or even dangerous in women, this also extends to diagnoses (women present differently with heart attacks, and this has only been recently discovered.)

Aside from my private neuro I will never use a male doctor again.

Was just reading the Walliams thread and reminding myself of the stories from Mums who say he texted / invite their daughters to visit his dressing room.

"There are threads on twitter where teenage girls [are] ... saying he was sending inappropriate texts inviting them to his BGT dressing room. A friend of mine works for one of the red tops and they have been trying to release the story for years. Most recently the summer last year. He has lawyers that quickly shut down any story from going to print. It’s well known in the showbiz and media circles. Rumour has it this is part of the reason he is being fazed out of prime time tv such as BGT."

Oh no. I wonder how many other people have mistaken cunty Jake for unproblematic Jake.

Cunty Jake guy is just trying to ingratiate himself with the incels and the ‘do your own research’ crowd. Desperately thinking of the foulest thing he could tweet for their approval thus raising his own profile.

In Jake Shears circles Cunty is a compliment, funnily enough

Anyone remember when Lou Sanders posted something about a rapist being on TV? I don’t think it was Brand she was referring to.
She went on to list the decent male comedians she knew, before deleting the tweets, probably due to fear of legal action.
I just feel like some more names are about to be dropped soon.
Also, one thing I read at the weekend talked of an expose being planned on male and female comics who’ve been caught being racist and/or sexually inappropriate.
At this stage I do feel like I want to hear more about good ‘uns; restore my faith in people a bit.

Frankie Boyle’s on stage persona appears to hate women. He’s nothing like that in real life. His on stage character is a piss take.

I'm confused by this. If in real life he's fine with women, why would he have that as part of the act? He must be aware that it's distressing to the women he's speaking to and the women hearing it.

Is it just that the laughs from men are enough to make up for it?

Does anyone else find it disappointing how few celebrities and fellow comedians are condemning Russell Brand or talking supportively about how his victims have come forward. Only person is Sharon Davies the swimmer! Maybe Russell has injunctions or legal threats against people that stop them doing that. But this is not like the metoo movement where there was a lot of support towards victims.

I don’t think saying words on a stage as part of a stage act is akin to raping women (Russell Brand) or whoring out your special needs kid to the media for financial gain (Katie Price), that’s all. Frankie Boyle is easy enough to ignore.
I haven’t accused him of being a rapist, but I think he’s a bleep. You can be a bleep and not a rapist.

his comment about Rebecca Adlington wasn’t in his stage show, from recollection it was on Jonathan Ross, but that might be me misremembering because I think he’s a bleep as well. It was just a unilateral attack on a woman for not being particularly attractive in his eyes. Total cuntish behaviour.

Absolutely agree on both points. Quite surprised at so many saying Boyle is an act and not a misogynist- he literally shot effigy's of Muslim women 'in the tits' on his show.

This is how he responded to a female heckler:
His response to a female heckler was: “I’ll abuse you so badly your gynaecologist will think you’ve been in a f***ing car crash,” and again: “I reckon your pussy has seen more action than f***ing Helmand.”
It’s unbelievable that he wasn’t made the subject of police investigation for violent sexual threats! Surely that can’t be legal 😬

I totally think Walliams has a day of reckoning approaching. Little Britain and his kids books just reek of misogyny.

I've also heard stuff about Jason Mansford.

Does anyone have any primtetime TV celebs that they'd be crushed if it turned out they're a wrong 'un? For me it'd be Ant and Dec, they've been a part of my pop culture life since the 90s lol. And Let's Get Ready to Rumble is a legitimate bop.

He might be absolutely fine - I've no idea - but he is/was promoting and normalising ideas that sexual violence is funny and appropriate for women who disagree with you.
I'm all for free speech but he has to accept people will think he is a misogynist because it is part of his act 🤷‍♀️
